Exclusive neighbor to the castle
Had two good nights at Sommerro although check-in was quite slow but was upgraded to a nice and spacious deluxe room. Breakfast is very good with great and tasteful selection of everything. The hotel is perfectly located next door to the castle and National Theatre station with direct trains to the airport.

As you mentioned were located in the heart of Oslo Westside and within walking distance to the airport train . Glad you enjoyed breakfast as chef Alex takes great pride in the quality and provenance of all menus and ingredients .

Bad noise issue. Bad service. Room issues.
Just checked in. There’s a wedding going on and it’s so loud inside our hotel room. We booked through a travel agent and haven’t heard back about getting another hotel because the staff said the hotel is fully booked. They should have let us know about this awful noise issue as soon as we arrived. We will not be getting any sleep apparently. Such a shame and a bad start to our vacation. I will not recommend this hotel ever.

Definitely not a 5-star experience
My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. In my opinion, it is nowhere near the standard I would expect from a 5-star property.
The service at reception was particularly poor, and the room itself was disappointing, with an unpleasant dusty smell.
One of the most uncomfortable situations happened on the day of my departure. I had requested a late check-out and was explicitly told that it had been approved and that I could stay approximately 1.5 hours beyond the regular check-out time. Despite that, as soon as it was 12:00 p.m., a member of the reception staff came to my room and started knocking repeatedly and insistently on my door, telling me that I had to leave.
I explained that the late check-out had already been authorized. He then apologized, but by that point the damage was done: I had already been woken up and put in a very unpleasant and completely unnecessary situation. This is simply not the level of communication or service one expects from a luxury hotel.
Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. I accidentally left medication at the hotel and contacted them about it. The way the situation was handled afterwards was, in my experience, completely unacceptable.
Communication was extremely poor, with emails going unanswered despite the fact that I repeatedly explained the urgency of the situation. I paid for express shipping and was assured that my medication would be sent promptly. However, the hotel failed to send it as promised. Only after I repeatedly contacted them asking for updates did they finally acknowledge by email that the medication had still not been dispatched. By then, valuable time had already been lost, despite them knowing from the beginning that this was an urgent medication that I needed to receive as quickly as possible.
Because this was medication that I needed and that required special handling, not receiving it caused me serious problems. What made the situation even more frustrating was the lack of urgency, communication and accountability throughout the entire process.
For a hotel presenting itself at this level, I expected professionalism, attention to detail and, above all, proper treatment of guests when something goes wrong. My experience was unfortunately the opposite.
I would not stay here again, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel as a 5-star property.

Great location and accommodations
Beautiful and comfortable room close to train station, shopping, and activities. Food was delicious. Staff are amazing. Look forward to staying here again next time I'm in Oslo!

Wonderful hotel
We were so happy we chose the Sommerro. The room was large, perfectly appointed and extremely clean. The breakfast was full of high quality ingredients and had so many wonderful options to choose from. Vilde at the front desk was lovely and so kind. Perfect stay in Oslo.
