Brilliant family holiday!
We stayed at Parkdean Lower Hyde for the last week of July. It was one of the best holidays we have been on. Upon arrival, the reception staff were very welcoming. We found out caravan easily and parked the car within view but a short distance away which was great to get a few more steps in each day. I wasn't expecting much when we got into the caravan. I am one of those people who takes all my cleaning products and will clean the caravan however, this time, I didn't feel I needed to. It was brilliantly clean. No dust. No dirt anywhere. Bed sheets were clean and fresh. (I still changed the duvet cover with my own but that is personal choice and there was nothing wrong with the bedding). The kids loved having a room each and we pushed the beds together so they had a double bed each. They were eager to set their room up for the week.
We then went to Shanklin Chine which was lovely. The man on reception gave us Blue Light discount even though I didn't have my card. And we could return for free within the next 7 days. In the evenings they light it up. We didn't go back as it was a bit late for a 6 and 7 year old but they loved the trail and the waterfall. In the evening, we had some bucket chicken and chips from Thunderbird Fried chicken on site. It was really good, kids loved it. It was a little slow service as the guy was on his own and had lots of takeaway orders needing to do. Sunday we walked to the beach. Went to the arcades (some 2p machines are definitely rigged which did not impress my 6 year old), loads of things to do there. Take lots of change - we went back quite a lot. Had lovely ice cream on the beach and the kids paddled a little bit before walking back (its about a 10 minute walk but Google says 20).
Evening entertainment was great for the kids mine were both a bit shy to go up on the first night but after that my 6 year old went up every night and had a great time. Bingo for the adults with really big money prizes was also a winner. Someone in house did win so gotta be in it to win it!
The kids did sandart which is better than any sand art they have done before. A4 art with a variety of characters to choose from. They made squishes too. This is the second time they have done this and loved it. The staff on the activities didn't really make it fun or engaging like other resorts have done previously but the kids didn't really notice. Cooked breakfast in the restaurant was okay, if a little cold. We mainly ate in the caravan and got supplies from the lidl right next door. Swimming in the outdoor pool was good / fun for the kids but slides were not opened when not enough staff which seemed a bit unfair as there should be enough staff for the things being advertised. The kids enjoyed the slide when it was open. The lifeguards were quite strict and I did feel I had to keep telling my children not to swim too far away because I would get told off even though they are both competent swimmers (was witnessed someone else get told off), so be careful and make sure you are near your child if under 8. The kids wanted to dot he water waltz and both didn't like it so the guy offered for them to go to the pool party which was lovely and a very kind gesure. He also let my husband (and offered me) to go in the big hamster balls, again very kind of him. The two lifeguards in the indoor activity pool were really great with the kids and friendly.
Indoor pool at Landguard has an indoor slide which again was only open for a very small 10 minute window because a child asked if it would be open but they did open it and again, the kids really enjoyed it! My two love a park and went on the play equipment a lot. We also walked around the site each morning at 6am ish when it was really silent and admired the different set ups around the park and the camping area.
We went to Robin Hill Country Park which was a brilliant 9 hour day out. Tuesday and Thursday open til late so much to do. The falconery show was really good and informative and the kids enjoyed walking some ferrets.
5/5- fab holiday. We will definitely be back but might try a lodge on Landguard as these look really lovely and can still use all of the facilities on both sites as long as it is as clean as how Grace and Jess cleaned our prior to us coming. It's a 5 minute walk between the two.
We have been to multiple parkdean across the UK and this was by far the best we have been top.
Thanks for a great holiday!

Unsafe Experience and a Complete Lack of Accountability
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel people deserve to know about our experience at Lower Hyde Holiday Park.
During our stay, my family witnessed a heavily intoxicated individual loitering around the Safari Tent area before entering the occupied safari tent opposite ours and stealing property, including prescription medication, alcohol and a child's game. Police attended, arrested the individual and removed him from the park.
We were staying in an unlockable safari tent with our three-year-old child, while the family whose tent was entered had their eight-year-old son with them. Following the incident, both families made it clear that we no longer felt safe staying in accommodation that could not be secured and requested alternative accommodation with lockable doors.
We were led to believe that alternative accommodation was being arranged and waited for several hours. Instead, after repeatedly asking for updates and providing police statements, we were informed at around midnight that nothing was available and we would have to remain in the same safari tents. By that point, the Duty Manager had already left the site. No member of management checked on our welfare for the remainder of our stay or came to explain what had happened.
The following morning there was still broken glass, bottles and cans scattered around the area where the incident had taken place, despite later being told that additional security checks had been carried out.
Unfortunately, this wasn't the only issue during our stay. The camping shower and toilet facilities were absolutely filthy. On several occasions they appeared not to have been cleaned at all. Toilets contained dried faeces, the floors were dirty, and the overall standard of cleanliness was completely unacceptable. I complained about the condition of these facilities on multiple occasions, yet nothing was done to resolve the issue (see attached photo). Given the way the more serious incident was handled, the lack of action over basic hygiene sadly did not come as a surprise.
After returning home, I submitted a detailed formal complaint, setting out everything that had happened. Despite raising a number of specific concerns, I received no meaningful answers. What I found particularly concerning was that the Duty Manager, whose conduct formed part of my complaint, informed me that he had reviewed the complaint himself and considered the matter closed. I struggle to understand how that can be regarded as an independent or impartial complaints process.
The most disappointing part of this experience wasn't just the serious security incident itself—it was the complete lack of accountability afterwards. Guest safety, welfare and even basic cleanliness appeared to be treated as an afterthought.
Based on my experience, I would not return to Lower Hyde Holiday Park and would not recommend it to anyone, particularly families with young children.

Touring caravan experience
Pool facilities were not great, outdoor pool in a car park and the indoor looked too ropey to even attempt!
The toilets blocks are dated and were filthy. Only 1 shower in the women's had a decent flow, and was a nice temperature.
Clubhouse drinks are expensive, and not being able to take the dog ment we only went once and came back to her distressed so couldn’t go again.
Entertainment was weak on the one night we went. A generic recording and a dancing bunny - did not keep the kids entertained! Assume this is the same at all Parkdeans!
Ice cream area and bar shut early, again would have been nice to sit out there in the evening with dog, but nothing in that area was open.
Chicken place was manically busy the one time we went with one VERY stressed server.
Kids park is a tyre chip floor. Kids trainers for absolutely destroyed in one outing!

A Huge Thank You to Aaron – An Exceptional General Manager
I wanted to leave this review specifically to recognise Aaron, the General Manager, for the outstanding customer service he provided.
After an incredibly upsetting experience, Aaron took the time to come and speak with us personally. From the moment he approached us, he was kind, compassionate and genuinely interested in understanding what had happened. He didn’t rush the conversation or dismiss our concerns – he listened carefully and treated us with respect throughout.
As parents of a disabled daughter, we often rely on people showing a little understanding and making reasonable adjustments where needed. Aaron did exactly that. He was patient, empathetic and went above and beyond to make us feel supported. His calm and caring approach completely changed what had been a very distressing situation.
Earlier, we had been told by another member of staff that we would have to leave after eating through a different gate, despite explaining our daughter’s disability and the difficulties this would cause. Aaron handled the situation entirely differently. Rather than focusing on rules alone, he used common sense, compassion and professionalism, making us feel like valued guests instead of a problem.
It is rare to come across a manager who leads with such kindness and empathy. Aaron is a fantastic example of what great leadership looks like. He clearly cares about both his guests and the reputation of the park, and his willingness to listen and help did not go unnoticed.
Thank you, Aaron, for turning what had been a very disappointing experience into one where we left feeling heard and respected. Parkdean Resorts is very fortunate to have a General Manager like you, and I sincerely hope your hard work and dedication are recognised because you are a real credit to the company.
