Ali was the gentleman on the desk he was extremely welcoming and sorted the room issue promptly
Location was perfect to all bars and restaurants

Wonderful
Truely grand artictechure and spotlessly clean. Honestly the housekeeping team should be proud especially given the amount or high ceilings and detailed cornices not to mention chandliers. I was impressed.
My room and bathroom were superb also. A little noisy as to be expected in a city centre location.
Breakfast was your average buffet but the staff were friendly and efficient & the only thing I would really want to improve was the quality of the bread for toast, otherwise it was all good.
Location is fantastic just down from the train station and near the stop for open top bus so winner.
Heard a few guests in the lift complaining about the noise and the lack of air con but honestly if thats what you need go stay in a new build; I found the grandure definately made up for it.

Friendly staff, very tired and dated rooms.
We arrived by coach the same time as another one, and check in was chaotic queues, no organisation, although the reception staff were very friendly, welcoming and calm under the circumstances. Eventually though, we succeeded.
The bedroom was very tired and worn out. Furniture very old and cheap. Window frames were ancient old single glazed steel framed, which were very difficult to close. There is a secondary window inside the window, which was laughabley poor, falling to bits. We found a pair of soaking wet boxers behind the chest of drawers We reported this, and the staff were very apologetic.
Beds though were comfy, and we had a reasonable sleep.
Bathroom was modern, with a good shower.
Food was ok, but we were lucky to get a hot breakfast, because the gas stopped working in the kitchen just after we got ours. Much to the annoyance of other guests.
Atmosphere was a bit eerie to be honest, a maze of corridors and stair ways.
The main lounge is beautiful olde world, but someone came in off the street trying to sell cigarettes!!? Security definately needed on the main entrance, after reading other reviews as well.
Would we go back? No.
