Very friendly staff

Wonderful, friendly staff. Great value for money, the breakfast was excellent and a very convenient location for the station and town centre.

Worlds worst hotel

This was the worst hotel experience ever. The hotel is drab, faded, and in need of demolition .in the restaurant when I queried why our food was taking so long (45 min) we were answered by a cook dressed in night out garb shouting it was because it was all fresh cooked. Whien it arrived my wife’s lasagne was burnt and my fish was still frozen in the centre. When I complained we were told to leave the hotel. Turned out with no refund for the two nights charge. I would recommend a homeless shelter before this sad excuse for a hostelry

would not recommend!

Stayed for one night for a business trip, sadly I did not book my own accommodation.
Whilst the bed in my room was reasonably comfy, it did not make up for the wallpaper peeling off the wall, a draught coming through the window, poorly lit area outside the room which made it difficult to unlock the door, dripping tap in the bathroom, unable to get hot water from the tap but I did get to hear every time my neighbour used their sink.
After a sleepless night, I looked forward to breakfast with renewed vigour since the meagre shower had done nothing to awaken me. Sadly, my Cheerios were chewy. Still, the toast I prepared was nice.
Oh, and the main photo provided on this site for the Station Inn (nice building, lit up with atmospheric blue lighting)...yeah, that's not even the same hotel! Scroll through to see a more accurate representation and, whilst it is handily located near the station and a walk into town, that walk is down a poorly lit path, unsuitable for those travelling alone.

DIckensian

Worst hotel I have ever experienced. Damp (room leaking), dark, dismal and staying with the Ds theme Dickensian sums it up. Aware it is "classed" budget but that does not excuse the lack of basic standards. Awful accommodation with a way way below average breakfast.
Shall be heading to Hexham again next year for the horse racing and intend to avoid this hovel even if it were free. The waiting room at the train station would have been better. Owner(s) don't deserve to be in the hotel business. TERRIBLE!!!
