Just no
Despite being reassured by guest relations that people were not allowed to reserve loungers, staff did nothing about the fact we had nowhere to sit by the crowded poolside. After a miserable first day, we eventually fell into line, got up early to lay out some towels and became the people we hate most on holiday.
Things didn't get much better. The a la carte restaurant is the exact opposite of that description in that there isn't a menu. You get served a set meal which has clearly been pre cooked and assembled. It's only allowed once per stay as if there's a risk anyone would return. This means there is only the buffet for dinner and that's pretty tragic too. The bbq served raw liver on a skewer. Twice.
Housekeeping is good, the hamam authentic and the spa professional, while being practical rather than luxurious. Rooms are clean, beds are big, but corridors and common areas are tired, worn and smelly. Some staff can be so lovely, while others downright rude (I was shouted at twice).This and inconsistencies of service is down to poor management.
The government's policy of turning off the electricity supply when the wholesale price is too high meant warm drinks, no showers by the pool and a serious accident with glass bottles shattering on the tiled floor when the lights went out. Not the hotel's fault but something its website and tours operators don't mention.
All in all, I can't understand the glowing reviews of this place. I booked it because of the Iberostar name but it fell way short and adding 'selection' feels like an in-joke that isn't shared with customers. Unfortunately, it's claim to be the best in Djerba is probably true. But that probably tells you all you need to know.

A Great Hotel with Great Staff
We were given our room key of which we were put in a block that was nice it was quiet and very convenient to the restaurant and the swimming pool.
Now a little bit about the room itself. Initially the room was great it's large had a comfortable bed we had a balcony facing the maintenance area which wasn't the best but nevertheless it was a good stay good TV and a decent sized bathroom but there were a few things that needed addressing.
We didn't have any towels on arrival
We only had one turn down service for throughout the whole state
We weren't given any bathrobes or slippers
We were only offered a fruit bowl the once during the stay
The fridge itself wasn't cold enough at all it literally didn't keep any water or juices cold
The AC also wasn't cold, so we had to get somebody just to have a look at it, but it still wasn't cold, but it was very hot outside.
The bathroom itself had a few fixtures like the towel rail the shaver point there was very loose so there were a few fixtures that needed attention.
As I mentioned the birthday, so we were given a special sort of like invitation to a particular restaurant which we really look forward to. But unfortunately, the person that was actually checking us in into the restaurant had mixed the tables up and given somebody else our birthday table who had the birthday banners, but it wasn't their birthday and even they were a little bit surprised that they had the birthday table for when they started clapping and singing Happy Birthday for us it was a little bit weird but food itself was great but it's just to make a point.
Now to the good points
Soufri and Aisha absolutely made us stay so welcome they were amazing always tentative always at our beck and call always asking how we were. My wife felt a little bit unwell and Soufri and Aisha absolutely went out their way to make sure that she stayed hydrated offered a doctor medical advice all sorts just to make sure that she was looked after so I really applaud these two I think the hotel wouldn't run without Soufri and Aisha.
Generally, the staff are very friendly across the complex in the buffet area the bar area and the snack bar area all the staff are friendly always tentative never huffed and puffed they just were at your beck and call
The food in the buffet area is amazing breakfast was amazing lunch was amazing in both snack bar and buffet, and dinner was amazing we were never ever left hungry just great food great service great drinks overall a very good experience in the hotel we highly recommend it.
