your private house in Finnish nature
wonderful small houses, everything what you need to relax. Not all of them are ideally placed for maximum privacy and look into the nature. The solidary restaurant is a MUST, but also the bistro in the nearby area is fine.

Beautiful spa for couples with improvements in the restaurant menu
The place is very beautiful. The service is absolutely top notch with good staff who speak English.
Very beautifully located place and also a lovely hotel room with a magical view. Quiet and very peaceful for couples who want to experience the tranquility. The place is very beautiful with great opportunities for various activities. The nearby lake invites you to various activities and the opportunity to see unique seals.
Some improvements that can be implemented.
1) All text is in Finnish, i.e. signs and explanations, so it's a bit difficult to get around and you have to ask about exactly everything.
2) The tasting menu at the Solitary restaurant was well "specified" and stood out a lot with flavors that didn't really last all the way. It would have been good if there was an alternative to the tasting menu.
3) It was somewhat unclear what was and was not included in the package. Here, better information about the various activities and text in English is needed.
4) Parking payment can only be carried out if you have a Finnish-registered car. It is unclear whether you will be fined if you have a foreign-registered car.

Very unique luxury resort only for adults and many interesting excursions or activities
Kuru Resort (also known as Kuru Private Resort) is a luxury resort only for adults (you have to be at least 18 years old). I wouldn't call this a B&B accommodation. Here you have hotel level services in an own apartment.
They accommodate only 2 people in one apartment. So our family booked a lake villa and a lake suite. If you book a villa you get the whole house and you haven't any wall neighbors but lake villas aren't lakeside villas. They only have lake (and forest) view. If you want to stay near the lake you should choose a lake suite. Lake suites are situated in two-storied apartment houses with outdoor corridors. This house type is called luhtitalo in Finnish. These houses are situated only a couple of meters from Lake Hietalampi. You can even sit in your own electric sauna and watch the lake. However, it isn't possible to swim in front of the villa. There are two rentable lakeside saunas with swimming piers in the area. You may use those swimming piers without renting the sauna, if saunas aren't booked. If the sauna is booked, you see a rope in front of the passageway.
Both villas and suites have floor to ceiling windows (even in the bathroom with a rain shower and a bathtub), a separate toilet room, a very efficient air-conditioning system, an espresso machine, a water kettle, a combined fridge and minibar, a fireplace (either a wood-burning fireplace or a bioethanol fireplace) and a glazed terrace with two hanging chairs. You can open the windows of the terrace if you want. There is a door to the terrace both from the apartment and from the outdoor corridor.
You may choose a breakfast delivered to the villa (in front of the outdoor or to the terrace) between 8.30 and 9.30 a.m. or you may walk 800 meters to the restaurant of Hotel & Spa Resort Järvisydän to have a more versatile buffet breakfast at 8.00-11.00 a.m. We chose the buffet breakfast. It was excellent. They even had a waffle station where you could bake your own waffles and enjoy waffles with ice-cream.
Both Kuru Resort and Hotel & Spa Resort Järvisydän are owned by same owners. So you may use all services of Järvisydän, too. They organize many interesting activities and excursions. We booked a cruise to Linnansaari National Park and back. The normal price is 32,90 euros but the customers of Kuru Resort pay only 20 euros if they book the cruise in advance. The cruising time to the island of Linnansaari is 45-60 minutes. Then you have 30-45 minutes on the island (45 minutes on day cruises and 30 minutes on evening cruises). You may walk to the scenic spot of Linnavuori. The distance is about 700 meters in one way and it includes over 100 stairs. It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk there and back if you walk briskly. There are also longer nature trails on the island but then you need more time. If you want to stay longer on the island, you can return on a later boat (or next day) if you tell that to the crew. We even saw two very rare Saimaa ringed seals on the cruise.
Also many other excursions and activities are available: special seal watching cruises (seal watching safaris), dinner cruises, luxury yacht cruises, paddling tours, yoga etc. You find a small sandy beach, a lake spa (also indoor swimming pools), many beautiful forest trails and a forest cafe with alpacas in the area, too. The gourmet restaurant of Kuru Resort is named Solitary (prebooking needed) and the more conventional restaurant of Järvisydän is called Piikatyttö (you don't need any prebooking in the Bistro area of the restaurant). Read separate Tripadvisor reviews of these restaurants. There is also a wooden house district named Hakoapaja Aikhikylä (buildings made of ancient logs pulled from the bottom of the lake) with a panorama cafe in the area but it is owned by another owners.
So there is something to do for everybody in Kuru Resort. The holiday here was one of the highlights of my summer.

Good quality resort
Kuru resort, which is a part of Järvisydän, is promoted to be luxurious. I didn't find any luxury, but nothing terribly wrong either. We visited Kuru off-season, so it was quiet and peaceful. The scenery is broken by other villas, saunas and roads, but I guess that's the way it is in every resort. I liked the breakfast that was delivered to the room. There was enough to eat. We also tried the järvisydän breakfast buffet one day, and discovered that most breakfast items are the same. Kuru breakfast doesn't include any warm dishes, but the juice is better quality and you get a pancake per person.
The biggest problem with Kuru/ Järvisydän is that at least in autumn you can not get any lunch anywhere in the resort. The options are to buy plastic-wrapped sandwiches at the Järvisydän reception or drive to Rantasalmi. When you spend the day at outdoor activities, it would be nice to have something to eat.
We also tried the morning yoga lessons and Kuru signature spa treatments. We enjoyed them both, I think it was worth the money.
At Kuru, they have opted to light the trees /forest instead of roads. I found this incredibly dangerous solution. The landscape has really steep hills, and walking at dark when you can't really see the road, is to say the least, uncomfortable. Kuru roads are also used by cars, and bad visibility creates also a collision risk. I recommed bringing a good headlight and safety vest.

Inferior service and uncleanliness - MOUSE in the room
The long-awaited relaxation trip to Kuru Resort was guaranteed to be the first and last. The experience was inferior. There was a MOUSE in our room. The laziness promised to the customer is only realized for the staff, as a customer you don't have time to enjoy the stress. You cannot get the service in any situation, even if you ask for it. The villa is really hot upon arrival. The welcome drink is completely warm. In the villa, the air heat pump whines disturbingly and the speaker in the room has run out of battery. The pages say that the villas are designed to create encounters with nature. This is indeed the case, because when we arrived back from the world's most stressful private sauna, there was a MOUSE on the bed of our villa, which had left its waste around the room and in the wife's bag! The staff offered to change the sheets. Only when we asked if you would come in an hour to change again when the mouse is in bed with us again, we got to another villa. We waited 50 minutes in the car for the employee to arrive at the parking lot. Didn't even tell me where the villa is and we searched for 20 minutes where it is. New wool sheets have stains that won't come off and other debris and loose lashes in the sheets. The toilet of the original villa was not working when we arrived and there are fingerprints and saliva or other secretions on the window, hair on the floor of the toilet, etc. The reception is only open from 10am to 6pm, there is no information in the room where to contact.
We didn't get a gluten-free breakfast when we called and it took 40 minutes. The breakfast was stale and cold and otherwise low quality, only carbs and fat. The lights going to the platform of the private sauna did not work. The maintenance man didn't know anything about them, and couldn't bring himself to come, but said that it's good to know, and he'll go check it out tomorrow. In the private sauna, a fire alarm goes off whenever the temperature rises above 85. Relaxing. The phone was not answered when we called about the fire alarm. Paljuu can be seen directly from other villas, it is not private.
On Sunday, we didn't want breakfast in the room, we were woken up at 8:30 and brought breakfast for 1 person. All the time you could stress about something and call someone and nothing would work. There is no service. Waiters ok and yoga good. The wonderful surrounding nature is completely wasted. Nothing to do with luxury, and not worth the price in any way.
