Definitely a case of Location, Location, Location!

Slightly quirky perhaps, but immaculately clean, quiet and comfy rooms, at a reasonable price. Can’t comment on the breakfast as not sampled. Staff very friendly and helpful. Parking available but needs to be booked, and also you need to check the height of your vehicle. Biggest attraction is the superb location just off one of the main pedestrian streets in the City.

View with industrial charm

We had specifically chosen a room in the old town because of the historic ambiance. The hotel consists of two rented floors in a medical office building. Since there is no night reception, you can only get into the building in the evening via a code. Unfortunately, our room felt like the direct extension of a machine room: Instead of an old town view, we had an armada of air conditioning outdoor units right in front of the window. Because of the noise of the whirring motors, it was not possible to leave the window open at night. For a proud €135 per night, we had hoped for significantly more romance and less factory atmosphere. Presumably, there are also nicer rooms in this building. The staff was very friendly.

Breakfast

I have been to Hotel Aulmann several times; the central location is very good and the staff is nice and helpful. In the meantime, an air conditioning unit has been installed, which was a problem for us in the previous years and was hardly bearable in the upper floor due to the heat.
However, I have one point of complaint now and will not book it again. I find the breakfast to be clearly too expensive at 14 euros; the buffet has a small selection, including liverwurst, ham, two types of cheese, and Camembert. Eggs are only hard-boiled, no scrambled eggs or anything like that. For this price, I have received significantly more in other hotels. In the future, I will prefer to go to a nearby café, as I do not have a large breakfast anyway and it is really too expensive for me.

Not cheap, but good

Very good central location and yet quiet, friendly reception, clean, spacious rooms. Easily accessible from the train station by bus, stop at Karl Marx House
Unfortunately, there is no breakfast before 8 AM; it's frustrating when you need to catch a train. The decor is okay, but without the pictures, it would be completely bland. Beds are a matter of opinion: good for me, too soft for my partner.
Overall a recommendation if the price does not bother you.

Recommended for stay in Trier

This is a really good hotel to stay in Trier. It is centrally located, on the edge of the pedestrian zone and all sights within walking distance.
The room is spacious and comfortable, with good beds and sitting area.
The entrance is via an elevator upstairs, with nice reception at the reception. Breakfast is also well catered for. Parking in the underground garage, very special, your car is on a plateau that can be brought down by a lift and up again so that two cars can stand above each other. This is highly recommended if you want to stay in the beautiful city of Trier.
