A perfect place for a stopover (family of 5).
We were travelling from the UK to Hungary and needed a safe accommodation after the mishaps of previous year. We booked an appartement in the Gaestehaus Hannelore at Booking.com. Although it was a bit more expensive than a roadside motel we really got a value for our money. The appartement was spacious, and although the interior was a little bit dated it was clean and the beds were comfy. We had fridge, toaster and kettle in the kitchen. Despite being very close to the Autobahn (only a 2 minutes drive away) the night was very quiet and peaceful, free from the door-slammings and shoutings of the late night arrivals we frequently experienced in the travellers' hotels. It was a perfect place for a stopover, but we would also happily spend a week there.

Stopover paradise
With more leisure time on our hands, we now divide our holiday journey to Carinthia in two legs. Geiselwind is about halfway home and the holiday home in Carinthia. A worry is always the luggage in the car, which we don't want to leave overnight. With Gästehaus Hannelore Müller we have discovered stopover paradise. Tick it off on your fingers: Supremely friendly and helpful hosts, a clean, spacious room with a good bed, clean bathroom with plentiful water in the shower and free wi-fi and to make everything perfect, a garage for rent for a nominal fee, where we could put our car, loaded to the brim with luggage under lock and key. Breakfast is plentiful and OK. Don't expect additional luxury in the room, such as a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a safe. These amenities are for 4 star and 5 star hotels. But all necessary things are there and in good working order. Furthermore, a good restaurant is on a short walk from Hannelore Müller in Geiselwind center and the petrol station is round the corner. What more can you wish from a stop over? A five point rating and we will be back Herr Müller!

This is our favorite stopover address halfway to Austria
The time that we did the 1200 km from Rotterdam to Villach in one day is a thing of the past. One reason are the notorious traffic jams and perpetual road works on the German motorways, but there are more reasons why we split the journey in two nowadays. About halfway is the city of Geiselwind and last year we discovered the stopover paradise "Gaestehaus Hannelore". A friendly owner, comfortable, quiet rooms with a spacious clean bathroom, free wi-fi, a good breakfast, reasonable prices and moreover, lockup garages for a reasonable rent, where the car full off luggage can be put away safely. What more do you want. A well earned five point rating. However, don't expect a fridge, a safe, or bathroom amenities, "Gastehaus Hannelore" isn't a four or five star hotel. But bottled drinks are available in the hallway for a reasonable price. Self service. You take the bottle from the basket and leave the (reasonable amount of) money in a box. That's Bavarian hospitality.

Good for a stopover
This is a suitable place for a stopover. The rooms was spacious but dated. Everything was clean and basic. Restaurant is about a 10 minute walk. There is off street parking. The breakfast costs extra.

Good for an overnight stop to break your journey
At the end of September we were driving from Munich to Lake Bled and needed an overnight stop to break the journey. The Guesthouse was easy to find - just a few minutes off the main dual carraigeway. The lady only spoke German (we speak none) and we found it quite difficult to understand that we were not staying in the house photographed - and where we had parked - but in a building in the next road which we needed to drive to.
The room and bathroom were both large, warm and clean - a mix of decoration styles and colour schemes. There was parking on the drive of this building and breakfast the following morning (a good continental choice which was served to us) was served in a neat dining room in the building that we were staying in
There appeared to be no restaurants or bars open in the town - which is within walking distance - the main options are a short drive away and mostly take-aways - burgers etc in a service type area. Fortunately we found a Truckers cafe (easy to find - just look for all the lorries parked up) in the same area and enjoyed a great bowl of pasta and couple of beers
