A highlight in the Kalahari
A highlight in the middle of the Kalahari.
The sunset was at its finest and the dinner was exceptional. Can recommend this great guesthouse to anyone. Anyone who doesn't stop here is to blame for themselves.

A very good option
I spent one night in this lovely place. The room was clean with aircon. There is a smal swimming pool to cool down.
The dinner and breakfast were very tasty.
The dogs from the house are also very cute.
I had really a nice rest there.
A very good option if you are looking for a place on your way to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

An oasis of beauty and a 5 star meal in the middle of nowhere!!!
When we arrived at Gochas town, I just could not imagine that we would be able to stay. It just looked so empty of people and desolate, but, then we found Kamelruhe Guest House where we had booked for an overnight stay and we were SOOoo pleasantly surprised.
It turned out to be a smal oasis of beauty, a little jewel!
A lovely green garden with lots of flowers and trees, an open sunset view, a lovely dining area....inside and outside, and the MOST DELICIOUS 3 COURSE DINNER one would ever expect in a remote place like this. Karmen, Philip's wife, is an AMAZING cook!! Whenever we remember what she prepared for us, we just smile in amazement.
After 8 nights in the Kgalagadi, we were back online and Kamelruhe turned out to be the perfect place for us to start returning to the 'world' again. We sat outside, read our emails, enjoyed our drinks and the view and enjoyed getting to know the whole family...kids Levon and Niva and Molly, the gorgeous labrador!!
The only improvement I could suggest is to modernise the colours of the bedroom covers and curtains....to match those lovely Mexican colours you have chosen in the main areas and outside!
Karmen , we will NEVER forget your cooking....soooooooo delicious... 5 star....and the presentation of our dinner!!!

Perfect stopover
The one night we had at kamelruhe guesthouse was just perfect. Loved the interaction with the family, staff and pets.
We spent the afternoon near the pool and in the garden, observing (and being observed by) the dassies, with some refreshing drinks on the side.
Phil van Wyk, one of the owners is also a very passionate guide, who is willing to share his knowledge. Thanks for the great suggestions for future trip plans to Southern Africa!

Auf dem Weg zum Fish River Canyon ...
hatte wir uns diese kleine Lodge gewählt, in Gochas einem kleinen Dorf. Hervorragend : wir waren die einzigen Gäste es war ruhig, die Aloysia Dreyer als Managerin hatte einschließlich Essen alles im Griff. Und einen Tag machten wir Pause : Deutscher Friedhof - Schlüssen in der Lodge, Kirche, Agri-Markt mit Buschhüten / einen erstanden/, kleiner Supermarkt. Und immer in Begleitung von Molly und Lala den Security-Dogs. Für Hundeliebhaber ideal.
Auch das Game Drive gleich am 1.Abend über die AOB-Lodge 6 km entfernt war super : ein Pengulin jetzt weiß ich das das ein Gürteltier ist hatten wir gefilmt. Sollte eine Seltenheit sein, der Fahrer meinte er fährt jetzt 12 Jahre und hat in der Kalahari noch keines dort gesehen. Die Clips haben wir sofort kopiert für die Lodge.
Nur ein Wehrmutstropfen : kein ATM ging wir mussten bis Keetmanshoop warten. Doch am Folgetag konnten wir mit der Kreditkarte bezahlen .
So Aloysia Molly Lala Bilder hatten wir schon bzw. schicken wir nach. Alles Gute für den Abschluss der Fernstudiums in Südafrika Aloysia ! Wir denken gern an die Zeit in Gochas zurück.
