Rooms was wonderful - spacious and bed very comfortable. Had glasses, coffee maker and fridge. Towels were adequate - not fluffy and big enough. Only issue - no staff at front desk when we arrived - another couple was also waiting. And had to wait when we checked out as well. Lots of parking - well lit and only 20 min from NOTL

The hotel was actually quite charming but located in a time-worn part of town. We were very disappointed in our first view of our room which was extremely dusty. There was no housekeeping on staff at the time and the front desk receptionist took on the job of cleaning our room for us while we went for dinner. The room, itself, was well-appointed, the bed comfortable and we stayed for two nights. It was an easy drive to Niagara-on-the-Lake and less expensive than anywhere in that town. There was a restaurant on site.

Visit was exceptional. The only complaint, if one could call it a complaint, was there was only one small round bar of soap in the bathroom for 2 people.

Overall, I recommend staying at this hotel.
Lots of pluses:
1. The room was beautiful and the hotel has an overall historic charm about it.
2. The bed was very comfortable.
3. There was a wedding on during our stay and our room was right over the hall where the wedding was taking place. When we returned from dinner, the noise from the wedding was loud as we waited for the elevator in the lobby and we expected we were going to be listening to that all night, but the hall must have been sound proofed because we could not hear a thing in our room.
Areas for improvement:
Cleanliness of the room left a little bit to be desired. Nothing gross, but just small things like the lampshades had not been dusted in a long time.
Feedback to hotel:
This is not a reason not to stay there but just some feedback for the hotel: the coffee table in the room we were in is a dark wood that is almost entirely invisible when the lights are out. I got up in the night and went to go across the room and remembered the location of the table at the last second. Because of how low it is, if I had run into it I almost definitely would have crashed down on top of it. Putting luminescent strips or something on the edges of the table surface so that the dimensions of it can be seen in the dark would be a good idea to prevent injuries.

It was okay.
The room was nice. Once we were settled in for night we noticed the room wasn't thoroughly cleaned (there were signs) and I contacted the hotel in the morning and they offered to fully clean the room or move us. We accepted the deep clean. I appreciated how they fixed the situation.
Please note that you can't adjust the temperature in the room. The thermostat is locked. I reached out to have it unlocked and they said that wasn't possible. As a perimenopausal woman I found it difficult to sleep. So for night 2 we bought a desk fan for the nightstand.
We didn't eat at the restaurant but it looked nice.
This hotel is listed as a boutique hotel. Nothing seemed extra special. It was cool that it was an old mill and the stone inside was gorgeous. Other than that it was pretty standard.
Some suggestions might be: -offer a coupon for the restaurant -use historical photos in the rooms -add decor to the rooms that connect with the history. -include a suitcase stand in the rooms -update the lighting a bit in they lobby and rooms - a fancier shower curtain would do a lot - better toiletries.
