Close to the Vatican
Bus stop, Carrè Four and pharmacy in front of the apartment.
Mrs. Debora is very helpful and kind and gave us excellent advice on where to eat well locally without spending a lot and how to get around Rome by buses

Good Choice for the Vatican City- Prati district!
The location also features a cafe next door (just turn to the right). Directly across the street is a pharmacy, and a 24 hour grocery store. Right in front of the building are the bus stops (ironically, because of the location being close to the Vatican sites, the buses were always very full in the mornings). As with many small B&Bs in Rome, it might be hard to find Il Pontefice as there are other entities in the same building, and the sign on the building is small. The Farmacia, Carrefour and a Copy Store directly across the street from it might be easier to spot while driving by (see photo).
From the lobby, you can use the one elevator to access the B&B on the 4th flr. It is one of those charming old tiny elevators with doors that need to be shut before using. You will need a few trips with luggage! Debora helped us with ours. Otherwise, there is the staircase.
The room we booked had a balcony with an awning, that faces the main street. The balcony is narrow but it is big enough to have a table and 2 chairs. There is a lot of traffic noise sitting outside. Fortunately, the room is pretty quiet when the balcony door is closed.
The room is a good size and very clean. Within the room, aside from the bed, there is a small dining table and 2 chairs, a small fridge, 2 small nightstands (each with a little drawer), a safe, and an armoire with lots of space. There is an iron and smaĺl ironing board. The flat screen TV on the wall has lots of channels, but we only could find one channel that sometimes showed old programs in English (not unusual in Rome of course- just an observation). There are multiple power outlets, 3 I believe, in the room, which is very good and they all took our plug converters too. Wifi is available, and always worked during our stay.
The bathroom has a pocket door, modern fixtures and is a good size. There is a pedestal sink, bidet, toilet, hair dryer and shower stall. The shower is on a raised platform with not much room to step up onto, maybe an inch or two, and the stall has glass doors and is pretty narrow. Larger people will have some difficulty with it. There are no shelves in the bathroom, and not enough towel racks or hooks. Other rooms might have a different layout; maybe ask Debora if any of this is important to you.
Hand and bath towels are supplied, and a tiny bar of soap. You might want to bring facecloths and soap. We noticed there is a noise from the toilet plumbing every time we used the taps on the sink- either a pump issue or the pipes need proper venting.
There is a spacious common room within the B&B that has a kettle, sink, stovetop, and an espresso machine, producing an espresso-sized coffee. The espresso coffee maker uses pods (very small ones, not the size of pods used in North America).
In the morning you can go down one floor to another room Debora will show you, for breakfast. She will cook you some eggs and toast, and make various types of coffee. You can also self-serve with cereal, fruit, pastries, a few cold cuts, and juice (but not coffee). Debora is happy to provide transportation information, and show you locations and directions on maps.
We found Il Pontefice to be a comfortable B&B and it met our needs. It is good value for Rome and we enjoyed our stay here.
