This guest house is located in Olot's Plaza Mayor Square in the Old Town. It offers air-conditioned rooms with a TV and free WiFi. The town of Olot is surrounded by the Garrotxa Volcanic Park, which is popular for hiking and cycling.

Central and comfortable
A newly renovated Inn in the center. Comfortable and with small details when arriving at the room (toothbrush and toothpaste, candy).
Very friendly reception girl. Also, if you book directly to the Inn, you are given bonuses to park in a nearby car park.
I don't give it 5 stars because you hear a lot of noise in the street and in the next rooms.

A humble experience
The first impression was not great because the manager that attended us was not wearing a mask to comply with Covid-19 safety measures. However, she was very nice, laid-back and helped us change rooms from a twin to a triple room without charging any price difference. The room -with ensuite bathroom- was clean, basic but had air-conditioning and a flat TV.
The hostel was located in the heart of Olot and close to many bars, restaurants and the bus station. Although our room was almost facing the main square, it was very quiet at night to sleep.
There is an elevator and a bar/restaurant on the main floor. In our opinion, we would have expected much more for the price we paid (like an included breakfast or nicer furniture), so we might probably stay in another place if we ever have the opportunity to visit Olot again.

A cheap stay in a small town
A small hotel / hostel in a small town.single room that I stopped by for 1 night.
- I stayed at the most basic single room. It was small, but that was expected from the cheap price. My only problem was that the shower water did not get very warm.
- The location is very close from the bus station and the main squares of the town. But I had to walk around the block to find the building. Although I had a reservation, the entrance was closed and lights were turned off inside. I had to beep at the door to have somebody come out from the back. I guess this was because of coming on a Sunday during a low season?
- I also had a somewhat hard time checking in at the reception. The old owner does not speak English although the hotel is on English booking websites. He has an eyesight problem, so I couldn't tell whether he's looking at me or other people... also continued talking to local people who came by, while I waited for him to complete my registration. I understand that these are not a big deal in a small town, where I shouldn't be expecting the hustle & efficiency of big city hotels' receptions. Anyway, I just want to inform my readers.
I wondered what rating score I should put on Trip Advisor.. Wanted to give 3 since it's a small, inexpensive local business after all... But I'll go with 2 as the most objective score.

Olot - conviently located, value for money family managed hotel
The service experience at Hostal La Vila was exceptional. The owners are friendly, engaging, kind and provided every assistance to our requests over our five week stay.

This establishment is strictly a bed and breakfast venue and is modern and clean. The dining room is suitable and nicely furnished with a homely feel. The hotel has a small four person elevator to all floors. Door access is via keyless electronic card and a large mechanical door lock utilised when guests are in the room. There is a wall mounted television set.
Overall this venue is value for money, clean and tidy, provides secure accomodation and is located in the centre of Olot. The bus station is only two blocks away and can be walked to with luggage. Vehicle access is limited and parking is not available on site.

Too old and run down
We was very surprised when arriving this Pensio, Thought it wa run by an young couple , but not ! The owner , who was a relative old man , had very poor eye-sight and used a spying-glass to read our e-mail. He used "hours" to check us in . The pensio had an elevator and stairs, the room were clean , ,the beds covered with plastic-sheets probably to keep them from dusting down The bath-room was tiny and the bath.tub very small indeed !There was no safe, but the air-condition worked fine. There were no soap-dispenser in the toilet area , you had to go back to the room to find soap ! The feeling we got, was that this pensio shoul have had new owners for many years ago , But, it was situated midst in the city . No parking close by . The brakfast was simple, and my som got hot milk with black "things floating in the glass, He should have used the spying-glass more often ....
