The Barceló Raval is not simply a hotel; it is an architectural statement of intent in the heart of one of Barcelona’s most historic, dense and multicultural neighborhoods: The Raval. With its cylindrical structure clad in black metal mesh, this 4-star superior hotel stands out as a beacon of cosmopolitan modernity.
Location and Environment (The Critical Factor)
This is the most debated point by travelers and depends entirely on what you are looking for on your trip to Barcelona.
• The Positive: The hotel is literally downtown. It is located on Rambla del Raval, a few minutes walk from Las Ramblas, Boqueria Market, Teatro del Liceu and MACBA. If you want to live authentic, rogue and vibrant Barcelona, there is no better place. You have restaurants from all over the world and alternative shops on every corner.
• The Negative: The Raval neighbourhood is in the process of being gentrified, but it remains a complex area. Some guests may feel uncomfortable at night due to the atmosphere of some narrow adjacent streets, the presence of homeless people or constant noise. It is not the neatest or quietest neighborhood in the city, although Rambla del Raval itself is wide and well lit.
The Crown Jewel: 360o terrace
Definitely the best of the hotel. The top floor has a circular terrace that offers one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona.
• Views: You can go all the way around and see the Sagrada Familia, the Cathedral, Tibidabo, Montjuïc and the sea.It is spectacular both day and night.
• Atmosphere: It is an ideal place to have a cocktail at sunset.
• Swimming pool: It has a small swimming pool (plunge pool) for cooling off in summer, although it is more decorative than swimming because of its size.
Rooms and Interior Design
The design follows the avant-garde line of the exterior. Don't expect classic decor.
• The Design: The rooms are modern, compact and dominated by vivid colors (fuchsia, green), black and white. The furniture is futuristic in design.
• Views from the bed: Many rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows. Due to the cylindrical shape of the building and the absence of tall buildings around, the views from the bed are breathtaking, especially on the upper floors.
• The Bath: There is division of opinion here. The bathroom is integrated in the room (the sink is usually open behind the bed, and the shower/toilet in glass-separated cubicles). This maximizes space and light, but reduces privacy, which may not please roommates or less bonded couples.
Gastronomy
• B Lounge: Located on the ground floor, it is a very cool multifunctional space, decorated with a lot of color. It offers creative tapas and good quality international dishes. He's famous for his Sunday Brunch.
• Breakfast: It is a complete buffet, varied and with healthy options, very much in line with Barceló standards.
Service and Value for Money
• Service: The staff is usually young, friendly, efficient and polyglot, used to an international client profile.
• Value for money: It is usually competitive to be a top 4 star with those views in the center. You pay for the design and strategic location (and terrace), even if the rooms are not the most spacious in the city.

⭐ 2/5 – Modern design, but a very disappointing stay
The neighborhood was a major problem. It felt uncomfortable and noisy, and we had almost two nights without proper sleep. One night, there was a folkloric party directly in front of the hotel, with loud music and noise late into the night. Another night, there was a police operation around 3 a.m., which woke us up and made it impossible to get a good night’s sleep.
For the price, the room was also far too small and impractical. The furniture and layout did not make good use of the limited space, and overall the room did not feel worth what we paid.
The rooftop pool was another disappointment. It is extremely small, and the dark-looking water and overall appearance made it feel unappealing and, frankly, rather dirty. I did not feel comfortable going into it.
The elevators are ridiculously tiny, which becomes particularly inconvenient when the hotel is busy. The staff also came across as impatient and not particularly welcoming, which made the experience even less pleasant.
The only real positive was the hotel’s modern design and stylish appearance. Unfortunately, attractive décor cannot compensate for the noise, uncomfortable surroundings, impractical rooms, tiny pool and elevators, and the overall lack of value.
For the price, I expected a much better experience. I would not stay here again

Very modern and nice stay in Barcelona
When we needed to extend our stay, we were moved to a room on the first floor. Here, the bathroom showed more wear: the glass wall was cracked and the sink was clogged. Noise from outside was also more noticeable at night, which affected sleep quality compared to the room on the 7th floor.
Overall, our experience varied significantly depending on the room, with the 7th floor offering a noticeably better stay than the first floor.
