Commonwealth games trip

Booked the Argyll to visit the commonwealth games for the day. We were told in advance parking is 1st come 1st served but street parking is available. On arrival we were told there was 1 spot left. We drove round the back of the property to find the space.
Check in was quick, room wasnt quite ready so we went to the bar next door for a welcome drink after a 3.5 hour drive. We went back to the hotel, got our key and git the lift up to the 4th floor. We were pleasantly surprised by the room. 3 bedded and spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Breakfast again pleasant staff. It was a buffet style breakfast with plenty to choose from. All in all a lovely central hotel. If i travel to Glasgow again, I will stay here again. The only thing was the tv,put it on last night when we arrived back and it was loosing signal. I think it may have been an aerial socket issue, but apart from that its a from me

Rude staff on reception

Room is great even had a proper aircon machine just let down by not accepting cash no warning from booking.com and snotty reception staff since when did cash become a dirty word. The room is great and location just let down by rude staff and not accepting cash,.

Super convenient hotel within walking distance of Ovo Hydro. Hotel was clean, staff were very helpful and friendly. Gave advice on buses to take to various venues whilst we were in Glasgow for Commonwealth Games. Our room was compact, in fact the door looked like we were entering a cupboard, but ideal for a base. We only slept in the room, didn’t sit in it watching the tv. We were on the third floor at the back of the hotel and it was lovely and quiet. The shower was in the bath, lots of hot water but a wee bit difficult to regulate the temperature. A large selection of breakfast items, a huge choice. Also good restaurants nearby.

Nice location - the rest is as you might expect

To be fair, Argyll doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not. It is very basic accommodation an not much more. You get the uneven floors with (what feels like) 3 in layers of carpet, your wonky stairs, dimly lit and narrow passages, insanely dangerous bathtub showers, cramped rooms etc. So in that sense very similar to any old B&B in the UK. But the location is really nice, close to Kelvingrove, lively streets and pubs (nice for watching the World Cup!), eateries and transportation. Much better than downtown for sure! In spite of a very enthusiastic staff, the breakfast was thoroughly underwhelming, but then again that was the case all across Scotland, I now realise.

The room was small but friendly staff in both reception and breakfast. We were fortunate to find parking behind the hotel.
