5 stars for the hospitality, a 6th and 7th for that magnificent zen-like garden!

Came here for one night following the signs at the road. Easy to reach at the edge of Eger City, which is 1 minute on foot down the Hill. Only a few parking slots, but if you get one, its just perfect.
The place is a little diamond, stolen from the crown of hungarys kings. The rooms bright and beatiful, airconditioned, the bathroom modern and the shower huge. Everything ist very clean.
But that's just the beginning: the people working there are really helpfull and extraordinary friendly. But ...
... the GARDEN! A small backyard garden, very british, drinking wine, listening to the pidgeons. It was so beautifull, i missed the Champions League Finale.
And everything just one step away from Eger City.

Tranquillity and warm atmosphere

We had a wonderful one-night stay at this charming small hotel. It felt more like a cozy bed and breakfast with its serene and peaceful ambiance. The room was simple but spotless, ensuring a comfortable night's rest. Breakfast was a delightful surprise—simple yet satisfying, catering to all tastes. Perfect retreat for those seeking a quiet getaway. Highly recommend!

1 night stay

There was mold around the toilet bowl, the water tap barely came out because it was calcified. You have to carry the luggage up several floors on foot. In the more expensive room, the head of the bed was under the small attic window, so it was not possible to open the window. On top of a 2-door wardrobe was an ancient TV with a minimal selection of channels. Luckily we were only there for 1 night.

A Pleasant Stay in Eger

We very much enjoyed our three-night stay at the Hotel Romantik. Our room on the third floor was comfortable and quiet. As some reviews have noted, the rooms have older furniture. The bathrooms have been updated. Think “old school bed and breakfast,” and you’ll understand the ambience. The friendly staff, who speak excellent English, were always ready to help. Breakfast is served in a lovely, garden-view room. This hotel is not a good choice for those who have difficulty climbing stairs, as all the guest rooms are up at least one flight of stairs. It is handy for those who like to walk, as the pedestrian zone of central Eger is just down the hill. It is conveniently located next door to the popular Egri Road Beatles Museum, and since there are signs around town that point the way to the museum, it is easy to find the way back to the hotel! The “Valley of the Beautiful Woman” (the site of many famous wine cellars and restaurants) is about a 25-minute walk from the hotel. We were able to walk to a bus stop a few blocks from the hotel where we could catch a bus to Budapest. It should be noted that the fare had to be purchased from the driver using exact change. Eger is a wonderful destination, and if we return, we’d like to stay again at the Hotel Romantik.

Our third visit a bit disappointing...

This was our third visit to this hotel. It is quaint and at walking distance from the city centre. Its interior is plain but nicely done. The staff is helpful.
However, this time, we were somewhat disappointed. We were given room #16, which is a bit small (almost crammed) and which has no air conditioning, only a noisy swinging fan. Day temperatures well above 30C and 25+C inside the room made my night uncomfortable.
The breakfast seemed to have fallen victim to cost savings. The sliced bread was not fresh, the meats and cheese were tasteless and there was no butter (only a 'spread', whatever that may be).
Considering all, a EUR 65 price per night for a small double room is very well paid.
For our next visit to Eger, we will probably be looking for another hotel.
