I stayed at a hostel in Düsseldorf, about 30 minutes from the main train station. While it’s a bit outside the center, the location was still convenient with easy public transport access. The self check-in process worked perfectly — I arrived around 1 AM and had no issues getting in. The room and common areas were clean and everything was as expected. Overall, a solid and hassle-free place to stay.

I wanted to check in early, so I sent an email a week ago, but I didn't get a reply.
I arrived at 8 am, but I couldn't get in because they didn't tell me the password. I wandered around and the back door was open, so I was able to get in.
The staff told me that I could check in at 2 pm, so I waited, and when I went to the reception at 2 pm, there was no staff.
I found out that they sent the email an hour after I arrived.
They said they talked to me in the middle, but they said something vague, and when I didn't understand and asked them to repeat it, they left right away.
I told the staff about this, but they blamed me and I felt bad.
When I told the staff, he said,
Am I responsible for your feelings now?
Welcome to Germany
I've never seen such a rude staff member before, and it was the worst.

Awkward hostel

It's not a hostel I'd go back to. I got carried away with the good comments, but I was quite disappointed.
Positive:
Its proximity to the transport network. You can take the bus or the metro just 3 minutes walk.
Breakfast is included. However, they only offer box bread, jam, cereal and milk.
-The opening of the outside door and the room, is with code. Which gives you the freedom not to carry a key or card
Negative:
Arrival is a problem. There are no staff on site, no one to open or help you. They say they email instructions, but many of us don't get the email. There is only one person in reception, who leaves at 11 a.m.
Leave much to be desired that there is no one in place to support you.
Sleep becomes a problem, as all the time you hear traffic on the street.
-The bathrooms are communal, and are only 2 bathrooms for 5 rooms, which continually get dirty.
The bed is not made. So it is annoying when your neighbors arrive after 23:00 hrs, and have to turn on the light to make their bed, making noise and waking others
The spiral staircase you have to use to get to the room is very uncomfortable. Especially when you're carrying luggage.

Well !

The attention of the Uruguayan girl at the reception was very good. The breakfast was quite complete and the facilities were comfortable. The location is quite good, about 15 minutes walk from the center. The room was comfortable, it had a bunk bed and 2 single beds. There were only 2 bathrooms in the multi-room apartment but I never had to wait that long to use it.

Be careful: business with dodgy practices that will leave you outside without a bed to sleep

I've held a booking for a month and was really travelling. ONE day before, they so graciously decide to charge my credit card without warning me. Onviously my card was declined, because it has protection against hackers. Instead of picking up the phone and trying to call me or allowing me to pay cash on arrival, they send me an email, give me ONE HOUR to reply, and because I obviously did not see the email until much later, they took the liberty to CANCEL my booking. Luckily, I found a bed in a better and honest place for the same price. Good luck with your dodgy business practices. I pity all the people whose trip you are ruining by cancelling bookings like that.
