Memories of a Special Stay

It was a real pleasure to stay in this hotel so special.
The sympathy, care in the details and the welcoming atmosphere made the stay even more memorable.
I take with me the tranquility of this place and the warm way I was received.
A sincere thanks to the whole team for providing such a pleasant experience.

Awful.. traumatising... rude... threatening... scary

Awful experience. Scary and unsettling as a female traveller abroad. The staff were so rude I cancelled my stay and was issued a refund from booking.com
Asked for a room change due to noise disturbance.
The other room was the same..
Went back to original room and turned in the extra key.
The next day ... in the evening I returned to the hotel. The man at reception was screaming in my face about the request which didn't even happen. I told him I spoke to reception earlier that day and cleared up the issue. I had a room.booked for 5 nights. On 2nd night I asked to add a guest. Guest had ID AND payment. Hotel refused so that's when I cancelled. They spent around 1 hour screaming at me.
I was traumatised and didn't even want to go near the hotel or walk past it again. Terrible experience ruined my holiday. My friend stayed at the hotel while I left as they didn't scream at her only me. I had emergency funds. Luckily received refund by the time I left the hotel! And this happend after midnight... I was so upset about it all. After reading other reviews... now I'm not shocked. I will definitely be reading reviews in the future! Be careful ladies. This is not a fun stay.

Stay far away please - aggressive owner who feels comfortable roaring at women.

The hotel owner is extremely aggressive and I sincerely do not recommend any solo travelling women stay here as he is very verbally abusive & frightening. Our hire car had a small oil leak which dripped in the garage (we did not notice) and the owner went apoplectic, it was quite shocking the way he shouted at us (2 women, youngest one (20s) he actually roared in her face unexpectedly as she stood silent in shock) We are two polite respectful professional people, there was absolutely no need to attack us like this over a minor accidental issue with our car that was clearly not intentional. While I appreciate it’s inconvenient for him to clean, I do think screaming & shouting at your paying guests in a very animated and aggressive manner is entirely unacceptable. We were extremely upset. We left the next day and did consider reporting to the police as he is clearly unstable.
Before this incident also refused to give us more than 2 towels in the bathroom. As women we like a bath towel & hair towel - forget it! He was irate about that too.
Breakfast very basic but acceptable. The housekeeping was excellent - very clean.
Close to seafront, short 8 minute walk.
I want to say that Thiago on reception is a gentleman and a very professional person. He has excellent English & is a wonderful host & was clearly extremely upset & very apologetic about our treatment but as an employee he could only apologise for the owner’s behaviour.
We wanted to support a small family run hotel, that is why we booked, how wrong we were. This scowling threatening man ruins the ambiance of this quaint hotel. We were both unsafe & unappreciated. Please stay far away, especially women.

Smart choice :)

Irreproachable accommodation and reception, with above-average cleanliness in a loving hotel right in the center.
The atmosphere is one of tranquility and organization both inside and in the garden and pool. Excellent for work or leisure. Definitely worth repeating!

Hotel smart, Estoril

Great hotel, spotless and in a lovely location close to the beach. It’s a quiet enough spot and the hotel itself is small and family run, good for families. Staff on reception were very helpful and had our rooms ready when we arrived at 10am. We had 10 lovely days here, breakfast was simple but adequate.
