Pleasant Hostel Experience
This was a clean, organized hostel. I stayed in a private room with attached bathroom, and it was a nice-sized room with a good view of the train station. The room was of a similar quality to a simple hotel room. Nothing fancy but it was not cramped and the water pressure was almost too much.
The hostel itself was great. Each floor was fairly quiet, with the main communal spaces located on the first floor. The guests were respectful and the staff was always available to answer questions. There were a lot of social activities, such as a pub crawl in conjunction with other hostels. It was well attended, bringing together backpackers and young professional Melburnians alike.
The location was ideal, being near Flinders Station and restaurants/cafes in nearby lanes. The tram network can take you most places very quickly. Access to the airport was simple in the early morning.

Disappointing
This was absolutely not what we were expecting. We booked using velocity points for Selina Cental Melbourne. Google maps took us to a place called Bounce, which is basically a backpackers hostel, which is probably perfect for travellers. What was really disappointing and annoying, was the room and reception was nothing like the photos. The place is a bit grungy and run down, our bed was pushed against the wall to fit it in the space, the sheets weren’t tucked in and so I was tangled up in them, and ended up sleeping on the mattress, the floor around the toilet was grotty as was the bathroom mirror, and there was a blind that opened onto office facing windows, but no sheer curtain so no privacy. The fault here lies with Virgin Velocity and their hotel booking company for false advertising. I’m adding photos from the booking site, and the reality ( we had sat on the bed, the doona was smoothed down).

Room was fine. Shared bathrooms were fine. Location in the middle of a major 24x7 building site was a disaster. This motel should be closed till the end of the metro project. Major noise all night. No warning.

Don't think about it, book now!
Do not hesitate to stay here. Excellent reception and 24 hours, so check in at anytime is very easy. Working booths for when you need quiet time to concentrate on something without noise. Restrooms are good, modern tiles. Plenty of showers, good space to put your stuff while you are showering. Lots of basins to wash your hands at or shave.
The rooms are awesome. The bunk beds are the best I've seen. Bottom bunks have heaps of extra storage space under them with drawers available, the top bunks have a little storage space within the bunk area to store your stuff. Also, there's a little gap between where the mattress ends and the wall of the bunk to store small stuff in. Little lamp and curtains for each bunk are great, as is the convenient USB-A port for phone charging. Modern dark painting throughout and super old school art deco looking elevator exteriors. Pumping nightclub underneath.
My room overlooked DeGraves Lane. Apart from the light tram sounds, I have to say I was suprised how quiet it was for the middle of the city next to a busy tourist attraction and Flinders Street. Very very clean. Comfortable bed and lovely linen with the bed. Thank you very much, great stay. I would stay here everytime when in Melbourne.
If you are questioning staying here, don't because it's totally worth it.

All good but very noisy. Staff didn't shut people up until midnight. And noisy again from 5 am.
