Lovely lovely hotel

Amazing little place. Made my birthday feel so special even for one night.
Can they tell us where the mattress is from?

Beautiful rooms, everything was spotless clean, radio playing on arrival and lights on making it feel welcoming. Rooms were warm as it had been snowing. The bath!!!.....
It did say mini bar but all that was in the fridge was 2 bottles of water so that was a bit misleading? As other hotels we have stayed in have a selection of drinks that you pay for or are included in price of the room.
We will definitely stay again due to its location and being such a lovely place.

The number 1 place to stay in Windermere

This was my second stay at The Penn while visiting family nearby. The location is very convenient for all the amenities in Windermere. Both rooms I have stayed in were very clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated with lovely shower rooms. They had a small fridge, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. I felt very safe as a solo traveller and it was a relaxing place to come back to after a busy day. I will be returning.

Honestly a beautiful stay!

We booked a dog friendly room and it was such a lovely room, modern but classic and very cosy.
We loved that upon arrival the lights were on but dimmed and smooth radio was playing, so relaxing.
The bed was very comfortable, we slept so well and the shower was unbelievable! We also loved the orange and neroli shower products. The room was spotless and the TV was a smart TV so we could watch YouTube etc.
The PIN code entrance was super easy to use and could be locked from the inside. We felt very safe.
We loved the location of The Penn, we could easily pop to the shops and there are bars/food places within walking distance. You can also walk to Bowness or travel further out which is what we did.
There is a very small and tight car park, we were lucky to get a space. The FAQ on the website however, says that there are other places to park within walking distance if you don’t manage to get a space.
It was a fabulous stay for dogs too! They provided a bed which was clean and a water bowl. Our dog was delighted with his little hand written note and his ‘woofin’ cake and bag of goodies- ball & poo bags. We know this is just a lovely gift and so we’re not being ungrateful whatsoever however please try not to put rawhide chews in as rawhide is very dangerous for dogs. We loved that there was also a muddy paw & boot wash outside!
A wonderful stay and we will be returning!

Location good but some challenges if traveling with luggage or tall members of your party.

Positives are very close to train station, on site parking, cleanliness, nice bed, sheets and towels. Negatives include inability to stand up straight in most of our room due to sloping ceiling (the room on the top floor), extremely difficult to get suitcases up the narrow tiny stairs, and several of us banged our heads on the low ceilings in the stairs. So if tall, have lots of luggage, or any mobility issues, would not recommend unless ahead of time they can guarantee a main floor room.
