Fantastic stay at this wonderful, independent Welsh Gem.

We booked last minute as fancied a night away with our dog. We were lucky that they had a cancellation for Easter Saturday. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean situated in the annex overlooking the lovely garden and handy for the dog.
The bed was comfy with lovely quality bedding and towels. The power shower was quite something- extremely powerful! We were surprised to see a pristine cream carpet in a dog friendly room so we were mindful of muddy paws! We had an exceptional evening meal- detailed review left on Dishcult.
The full welsh breakfast was fantastic with top quality bacon and sausage which set us up for the day. We would highly recommend this beautiful, independent hotel with super friendly staff and the warmest of welcomes. We will definitely be back soon.

Not good value

My partner and I had considered The Talbot for a weekend break as it has a great reputation for food and also has dog friendly rooms, so as we were in the area, thought we would try it out for lunch. As we were going to be having a decent evening meal elsewhere, we went for sandwiches. She had cheddar and chutney (£10) I went for fishfingers - not Birdseye, but unsure if homemade- (£12).Both were tasty enough, but both were made with sliced supermarket bread, no side salad, no nothing. Far too much money for what it was. Needless to say it is no longer on our weekend away list.

Cannot Recommend Highly Enough.

What a great venue. The food matches high quality London fayre: I had the panko prawn which were light and fluffy and succulent; the mains of chicken was cooked to perfection, meaning it was also succulent and delicate, not dried out. Tracey, front of house, could not be more charming and efficient. The rooms are warm, comfortable, well-appointed and mine was dog-friendly. Doesn’t get much better for a weekend excursion. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Fabulous hotel, well worth a visit

Fabulous hotel among the magnificent scenery of the Cambrian Mountains. We have stayed at Y Talbot many times, and shall return again. Welcoming, friendly staff, spotless, comfortable rooms and excellent, award-winning food. Well worth our three-hour journey.
