Staff were lovely , ate in the restaurant and also had breakfast - both very good.

Simply superb
Easy to find the hotel, I arrived in plenty of time to find a parking spot - there are plenty! Various bars for that welcoming drink and having pre-checked in I had no concerns about getting to reception.
Hogarths isn’t a cheap hotel but the value for money is evident. The room I paid for was a double, with a very comfortable bed, walk-in shower, plenty of hanging space for clothes, obligatory TV, excellent black out velux blinds at the windows and good access to lighting in the dark.
My room was up a couple of flights of stairs however there’s a lift available for those choosing (or not being capable) to use the stairs.
Bar prices are surprisingly reasonable, comparable to a night out in Birmingham, with a cocktail bar near the main reception area.
Food was excellent, including breakfast (buffet style help yourself) with tables well spaced so as not to be on top of each other whilst eating.
Staff were always pleasant, on hand to help if needed and presented professionally.

No aircon is a big problem
The beers were also warm.
The food was really nice, but would only come back here in mild weather.

Good Food, Very Poor Service
The biggest issue was the service. We waited well over an hour for our food to arrive, and when it did, it was only warm rather than hot. To be fair, the quality of the food itself was very good and it was clear that care had gone into the preparation, but the long wait and temperature of the dishes took away from the experience.
The front-of-house team were polite and friendly, but appeared very young and inexperienced. We have absolutely no issue with younger staff, but they need the right training and support. Basic service elements were missed, including forgetting to bring water glasses, and there was very limited knowledge of the wine list when we asked for advice.
We raised our concerns when leaving and spoke with the Food & Beverage Manager. He listened politely, which was appreciated, but offered no explanation for the slow service, nor any indication of what had gone wrong. There was also little attempt to reassure us that the issues were unusual or to give us a reason to return.
It’s a shame because the food quality was genuinely strong, but good food alone doesn’t make a great dining experience. Especially as the bill came to £300 for 6 people for Sunday Lhnch. Until the service standards significantly improve, we would struggle to recommend it.
