One of the most luxurious and well run fly in airstrip hotels in the UK

The setting of Newhall Mains in the Black Isle is truly exceptional. Having the airstrip right alongside our room makes it one of the finest fly-in destinations anywhere in the UK. Being able to leave Surrey in our Pilatus Super Legacy aircraft land in the Highlands, and be enjoying a cocktail in our room less than two hours later is a privilege we never take for granted. The airstrip itself is immaculately maintained and clearly operated to a very high professional standard. The owner Euan Ramsey, also a pilot and aircraft owner was there to welcome our landing.
The hotel is equally impressive. The bedrooms, lounges and dining areas are beautifully presented, with excellent-quality linens, furnishings and amenities throughout. The location also worked perfectly for us, with just a 30-minute drive to our fishing beat at Beauly.
We will for sure be regular visitors, Bravo!!

Scottish Perfection!

An absolutely incredible time had here with nine members of our extended family. Newhall Mains is an idyllic, tranquil spot with fantastic food, activities and attentiveness. We had a perfect few days here in July and would recommnd it to everyone for a base to see the highlands of Scotland.

Fabulous birthday treat!

My husband & I spent I night at this beautiful hotel on the Black Isle. This was a treat for my husband's birthday and we were certainly not disappointed. We were upgraded to a 2 storey , 1 bedroom cottage suite, which was so comfortable and roomy.
The dinner served in the Spruce Restaurant was fabulous as was the lovely continental breakfast.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will certainly return!

PERFECT stay on the Black Isle - 10/10!

We had a fabulous experience at Newhall Mains - the location is absolutely serene, in the middle of farmlands. The service was above and beyond from every staff member we met (particular shout out to Ben, who showed us to our room, gave us a tour of the facilities/amenities, served us cocktails in the hotel bar, and gave us whiskey recommendations!). Their restaurant is fabulous as well (it was a treat to eat somewhere with a Michelin star!). We truly had a 5-star experience, and I wish we could have stayed longer. If the opportunity arises I would definitely go back!

Much to appreciate at Newhall Mains

We are return customers to this heavenly part of the Black Isle. What makes it so special? For us it is the rooms that are comfortably and beautifully furnished with full kitchens (we have stayed in the 2 & 3 bedroom as we are often with family); it is the house keeping staff that are very friendly and great at their work; it is the complimentary delicious breakfast and baristas making whatever coffees you desire; it is the beautiful dinners prepared by Chef Matt from local food sources; it is the hotel owner and staff that welcome us back like family and are appreciative of our patronage. We make full use of the sauna, bikes, croquet, soothing massages by Sylwia and nighttime fires in the courtyard (my favourite fireside drink is a negroni from the bar). The time of year we are there means the sun sets at 10:30 pm and rises at 5am so there are lots of hours to enjoy the outdoor amenities.
Newhall's location gives us easy access (we hire a car) to our favourite towns of Cromarty, Fortrose (eat lunch at IV10) and Rosemarkie (lovely beach). There are lots of hiking trails, both easy (Fairy Glen) and more challenging (Fyrish, Cromarty Point) that provide stunning views. We take the Nigg-Cromarty Ferry (2 cars only) to go further afield to Dornoch, Dunrobin Castle and Portmahomack. Cawdor Castle just outside of Inverness is worth visiting as you get to see so much of the castle and gardens rather than just a small area like at other castles. Newhall is also a lovely place just to relax, read a book and restore energy as the only noise comes from the onsite highland cows!
There are many beautiful places to visit in the world and for us Newhall Mains remains at the top of our list.
