Why no air con or fan?

Made a point of staying here having visited the Beer Hall before which is next door. Receptionist was polite on arrival, explained breakfast etc. Went to our room and looked for air con or a fan, neither. Not only that but an A4 note not to open windows due to the midges. Window opened anyway, it was July and hot.
Bed was comfortable, bathroom large and clean. I had two showers because the rain shower was the best I've ever used. Coffee and biscuits supplied. Breakfast was included. Waitress service with full English, coffee/tea and juice. Perfect stay except it needed a fan.

Noisy room due to 7am construction site

We have stayed here before and love the conversion of a former textile mill and the nearby bar and deli. Previous stays have been in the winter and some time ago, the rooms are large with generous bathrooms (or ours have been). This time we were affected by an unusually warm summer in a sunny room with no air conditioning and 2 very small opening windows revealing a construction site and main road (No fan in the room). The room remained too warm and vehicle traffic was a noise problem until about 11 - not a deal breaker - but the real problem was the start of the construction site at 7 am with machinery - continuing to sleep or have a lie in was impossible. Sadly I don't think for a good nights sleep these rooms are an option either in a warm summer or if the site is still active. We do not feel like we have had a restful night at all and if you want to stay here speak to reception about the quieter rooms not facing the site and road.

Holmes Mill great - Hotel hit and miss

My wife and I have just returned from a 1 night stay at the hotel as part of a beercation gift we had received.
We have stayed before and loved it.
Holmes Mill has changed alot recently, and whilst its still brilliant, the smaller deli and loss of the butchers section etc is a real loss. The new social section with mini golf, darts etc will be great for families.
The beerhall is fantastic for a wide variety of real ales and staff in the hall are really helpful. Whilst it's expensive it is a great location and atmosphere is good.
The hotel sadly is where the stay fell a little short this time:
The room was far too warm all night with no way of changing the temperature. The noise from a wedding in the hotel went on until 04:00. We wouldn't have booked had we known.
The woman on reception on arrival also told us breakfast was served until 10:00. However, on going in for breakfast we had to find an unprepared table and were told we had 2 minutes to order breakfast. No water or orange juice left. Coffee cold.
Full English was poor with cold, hard bacon and reheated sausages. Staff should know how many rooms are booked and how many to expect for breakfast tables surely? Felt like unwelcome guests at a wedding buffet.
Genuine shame because had a great stay here previously.

Stayed for a birthday bash

Large room and bathroom but presumably as for disabled access.
Handy stay for the party downstairs.
Breakfast was the worst I have had in a long time. Watery weak cafetière of coffee, undercooked poached eggs “scrambled eggs not available as the chef was on his own”!?
So overall an expensive nights stay sadly

Very noisy vibrant hotel. Don't stay here if you want peace and tranquillity. Had a great stay during the World Cup. Room was immaculate and all the staff were helpful and friendly
