Nice hotel - shame about the food

The hotel and the staff were excellent. However the food let it down. Weird choices of main meals and undercooked vegetables. Full plates reurned to the kitchen. Some friends chose to eat at the Chinese restaurant across the road. Breakfast was a chaotic affair with queues for tea and coffee colliding with those waiting for toast and those for the their breakasts. Food soon ran out. We ended up with no bacon or sausages and only 1 hash brown and only tomato juice as the tomatoes were all gone and no beans either. Staff were not replenishing the trays. It was so disorganised.

Ring in the New Year in Style!!!

Fabulous 3 course meal with our friends and family and had a lovely 3 course meal with soup, main course of steak and finished with ice cream.
A great way to start a new year, great venue and great atmosphere.
A Scottish singer and great singer and great double act.

Disappointing stay

First impressions, wouldn’t recommend to anyone, not welcoming, smells, very cold rooms, very basic, as basic as can get. bathroom mouldy around bath tub, took 10 min to get hot water, toilet kept running, had to jam flush up. room was freezing when we arrived, put heater which took a few hours to heat u, just very disappointed with hotel definitely not a 3 star hotel

You could do so much better ‍

It's took me a while to write this review because I couldn't look at it objectively just after my visit. First thing was my shower curtain was stained pink from mould and fungus. A ninety degree boil wash with bleach would easily remedy it. Didn't offer to clean my room or provide fresh towels linen and toilet paper. I was there for three days. My bin was full and never got emptied. Disgusting. Kettle was substandard. Takes fifteen mins to heat the water. Spend some cash please. Bedding was low standard. Don't fancy freezing my ass off in December. Curtains badly hanged. Murder to darken the room because of this. Please attach properly. The restaurant that is in the same building as the hotel claims they are separate entities residing in the same building. It used to be all the same business. Regardless of the claim they are separate businesses the hotel casts a dark shadow over the restaurant and discourages customer eating there. On the plus side the old school paintings and classic Scottish in look in the lobby and landing leading to the rooms gives you a feeling you have went back in time. Please stop charging over £5.50 for a noodle pot that cost less than £1.50. Just scandalous. No wonder you guys are suffering a deficit in money with all this crazy unrealistic way of running what should be a highly profitable enterprise. Provide cheaper noodles at reception and a more varied variety and you won't stop selling them. You will quadruple your income by being fare and realistic. Room could have smelt better too.

I Would Give This Place a ZERO

I would give this place a ZERO if I could! We were on a tour. When we were seated we let them know we had one hour for lunch. We ordered our food and drinks… 30 minutes later we were notified the kitchen was behind and our food may not be out in time.
We chose to walk out and go the Teahouse with 25 minutes left to get food.
I highly recommend the Teahouse just right down the road. Excellent food and great service. Everything we ordered was excellent and fresh. It was also full of locals.
