Beautiful Grounds, But "Luxury" Ends at the Front Door – Dated Rooms and Concerning Management Practices
The Positives:
To be fair, the external maintenance of the hotel is excellent, breakfast is nice but still below the resort expectations. The gardens are beautifully designed, and the pool area is lovely (though we did noticed pigeons bathing in the pool during the day, not necessarily the hotel’s fault, but a bit of a distraction). Unfortunately, the positive experience stops at the landscaping.
Dated Rooms & Maintenance Issues:
The rooms feel old, tired, and a far cry from the "resort luxury" advertised. As documented in my photos, our room suffered from visible water leaks, cracks, and stains on the ceiling cornice. There were noticeable, unsightly streaks running down the walls, smudges around the keycard holder, and stains on the mattress. The bed is so uncomfortable I didn't sleep well for the two nights. The mattress felt saggy and too soft). Adding to the discomfort, the air-conditioning unit took half a day to cool the room and refused to drop below 23°C, despite being set to 19°C for our entire stay.
Unwelcoming "Weird" Practices:
A luxury resort should make you feel welcome. Instead, right next to the bed, the hotel prominently displays a massive, laminated price list of fees you will be charged if you break or lose items in the room. It instantly kills the vacation mood. If management wishes to offer these items for sale or cover their assets, standard hospitality practice is to discreetly place a beautifully worded "Items for Purchase" menu inside a closet or drawer. Furthermore, the hotel actually charges guests for ice. At a resort and spa of this supposed caliber, charging for basic amenities like ice is frankly unacceptable and aligns with other reviews mentioning overpriced services.
Safety Hazards & Staffing Drop-off:
The most alarming issue is how the hotel operates at night. After 10:00 PM, the property is essentially abandoned by management and hospitality staff. When we tried to call the front desk (dialing '0') at 10:30 PM to request a late check-out, it routed directly to the mobile phone of a lone security guard. He did not speak enough English to understand our request, replying only with "I don't know", "only me" and "go to sleep" when I asked where are the receptionists. I had to insist he call a manager to assist us, which is usually the case to have a manager on site at such "luxury" resort and property. I've asked to speak to the manager the next morning and she promised "further training" for the guard, this misses the point entirely. This is an ownership and management failure. A resort hosting international guests must have capable management or reception staff available overnight. Leaving the entire property and its guests in the hands of a single guard is a massive safety and security vulnerability should a medical emergency, fire, or security threat occur. Speaking of fire hazards, housekeeping left an oil burner/candle burning unattended in our room. In a room filled with wooden furniture and wicker detailing, this is an incredibly dangerous oversight.
Conclusion:
Sriwilai Sukhothai has a beautiful exterior, but the ownership’s approach to hospitality is fundamentally flawed. Between the nickel-and-diming, the worn-out rooms, the unwelcoming damage lists, and the alarming lack of night staff, the experience is severely lacking. Until management aligns its internal practices and room quality with its beautiful gardens, I cannot recommend this resort.

Good hotel with a nice atmosphere that will make you relax.
But does everything work perfectly? Certainly not and there are things that did not convince me completely but in general it is a more than pleasant hotel. Beautiful outdoor spaces in which to take a night walk and sufficiently large rooms. Restaurant valid option for evening dinners with a choice of Thai and Western cuisine. Good cuisine with a bill in line with the type of restaurant. Staff always available and relaxed with the result that even the customer feels pleasantly accommodated in this hotel.
Negative points is that it is not located in the city (but you do not miss anything anyway!) that in the archaeological area even if it is clearly closer to the latter so I would say, in conclusion, quite convenient to visit the Archaeological Park.

MIXED EXPERIENCE!
Indeed, the setting is enchanting, the pool superb, the spacious and well decorated rooms but on the other hand some misses!!
The Pdj was unworthy for a hotel of this category, no pastries, continental buffet with almost nothing, we were explained that it was low season and besides the main restaurant for the Pdj was closed, we ate at the one who was by the pool (morning and evening)
On the other hand the evening meal with the choice à la carte was good
No water pressure in the shower or hot water, we reported it but nothing was done.
In the room, there was an inventory with all the equipment, glasses plates etc with the price for each item in case of breakage or disappearance (as for rentals, mobile home), I never saw this during our many trips!!
Besides, we waited 10 minutes at the reception at the time of departure for them to take inventory, telling us that a bag of Laudry was missing while it was in a drawer, not even an excuse!!
For the respect of the customer, we will come back, we quickly went back to earth after our experiences in the Anantara and Shangri-La chains.
We probably stayed at the wrong time given the positive reviews, too bad because this hotel really has everything for him!!
