Excellent waffles

Went to Kartano’s waffle restaurant. Had salmon waffle and rasberry waffel. Salmon was excellently sour and rasberry was delicous with chocolate filling. Venue is typical Finnish manor, fancy atmosphere altough all dress codes are accepted.

2021 it used to be good, but it seems they're only interested in random people bringing them money, not the returning customers

Used to be good a couple of years ago.
We only went for waffles and this is the second year the quality has been going down.
The waffle was dry as it was missing one topping (which is listed as one of the main toppings, but the server didn't even mention them being out of stock on it) and there was only two strawberries cut in half with two tiny balls of ice cream and some powdered sugar.
In the photo I am attaching you can see the difference in the same item. Top picture is from 2021 and the bottom one is from 2023.
They also had juice for kids that had had it's best before date already and they were actually serving it. They gave us an option of consuming a product you're not supposed to serve or sell or getting an apple juice instead. Well, we got the apple juice and it wasn't that good and it was double the price. Not gonna return again.

Picturesque country manor

We arrived to Tiittala as part of our Saimaa roadtrip and the accommodation exceeded our expectations. The manor was like a museum and it is actually protected by the Finnish Heritage Agency. We stayed in a room called Karl Johan which was perfect for our needs. The room has a large bedroom/living room area and a toilet with shower. We also booked the manor's sauna for one hour, which is included in the room price. The manor has another wood-heated sauna by the river, which we didn't try.
The hotel staff is one of friendliest I have encountered and the service was great. The hotel's waffles were amazing so I would recommend to try them out.
Tiittalan kartano will be for sure our accommodation also next time if visiting Savonlinna or Sulkava.

Friendly staff and sympathetic place

We stayed two nights and had the suite room. The room was quite hot as there isn't air conditioning, and all the noises outside the room were really well heard inside the room. But all in all the room was quite cute and romantic. They also have sauna which you can book free of charge, so it was really nice to go sauna in the evening and morning. Breakfast was really good, there was local rice (/Karelian) pies, omelets and waffles. They also take into notice vegetarians/vegans if you call in advance. The yard is quite big and there was some chairs, but it would be nice to have some activities etc. in the yard. There is also some drinks they sell when the waffle cafe is open, but notice that if you want to have some drinks/food in the evening (as in Sulkava center there isn't quite much anything, and the waffle cafe closes at 6 pm), you have to bring them by yourself. This is sure a bit difficult, as there isn't fridge in the rooms. So maybe this is something the hotel could think about. But we enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend the place.

Beautiful and peaceful

This old building is really beautiful and the rooms nicely decorated in the same spirit. In fact our room was furnished and decorated with such a good taste that I would have not changed a single detail.
The location is also very peaceful a couple of kilometres away from Sulkava centre (which is not really a bustling city either). There is also a path down to the small river where you can have a swim which we were happy do as we were on a cycling trip and it had been a hot day (in excess of 30 degrees centigrate).
Talking about hot weather, the room was still reasonably cool and as one was able to sleep windows open in the quiet coutry surroundings, the sleeping quality was good.
We shared the toilet and the bathroom with another room. I never choose rooms without ensuite, if I can avoid that, but in practise it did not cause us any inconvenience. In fact the bathroom was recently refurbished and had also a good and large sauna (which we took advantage of to get muscles relaxed after the heavy cycling)
The breakfast was excellent and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. For someone without a private car one it is important to notice that there is no restaurant: we were lucky that had pancake cafe, but we would have liked a proper dinner.
