Good hotel with great breakfast

We booked the hotel for one night to see a photo exhibition at the nearby city museum and were very satisfied. The rooms are quite basic but have everything you need and are clean. The night was quiet (room out back). The breakfast buffet in the adjoining restaurant was great and the entire staff extremely friendly and attentive.

It can't get worse

The hotel is centrally located in the city center of Langenfeld, but that is unfortunately the only good thing. My room was worn out, the furniture old and damaged. In the bathroom it also smelled very strongly of drain, I had to permanently ventilate to make it bearable.
Very bad was the breakfast. I was there on business with a group, so we went to the restaurant at about 07:00. Since we were the only guests, there was no buffet but a typical plate with sausage, cheese etc. So far so understandable. However, there was only one service person downstairs who had to prepare, serve and clear everything. My breakfast was then unkemptly on the table half an hour later and after each friendly inquiry came an annoyed "you see I'm alone" or "only have two hands".
The next day we got around the drama by having breakfast at the bakery across the street.
Conclusion: avoid the house whenever you can, with a hotel the whole thing has nothing to do, it is a single disaster.

Very good hotel in the middle of langenfeld.
Room perfectly adequate and nice restaurant underneath.
Very handy for buses and train station.

There is no elevator, English speakers are very limited also there is a bad smell in the hotel like there is a dead rat inside

Room was clean and bright. My room was above over the bar terrace which was a bit noisy if you want an early night.
Breakfast was not a buffet but you could ask for what you wanted.
Very convenient location for shops and restaurants and for travelling into Cologne or Dusseldorf.
