Great accommodation in Bad Bellingen

Mr. Schmid and his team/his family are absolute professionals. They are extremely hospitable and recognize the guests' wishes even before one expresses them. The hotel is beautifully situated, in very good condition, and you can do a lot - either in Bad Bellingen or in the surrounding area (Basel - Freiburg etc.). A hotel like this is something special! We will definitely be back!

Friendly, welcoming and good value

I stayed at Hotel Schmid for three nights during Basel Week when it is impossible to get a hotel in Basel without paying a small fortune. I did not know what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are adequate and most importantly they are clean and well kept. I stayed in room 30 and my colleague in room 31, these rooms are in a separate building, if you are a light sleeper I would not advise these rooms as they are very close to the train line and first train is around 05.30. The main hotel is further from the line so the noise is not an issue.
Breakfast is good and there is plenty of good coffee with it.
Most importantly it is easy to get into Basel. You can walk to the train station in 5 minutes and it is only 20 minutes into Basel Bad Bahnhof and from there you can catch a tram to anywhere in the city.
There are some good local restaurants for the evening and I ate some of the best steak I have ever eaten at the Hotel Schwanen
If you get the chance the spa and volcanic spring waters in Bad Bellingen are reported to be fabulous
There are ethernet cables in the rooms for the internet so if you need a convert/adapter make sure you bring one (they do keep some USB adapters at the reception if you forget)
I would stay here again

Warm, friendly welcome. Highly recommended!

Charlie and Chris provided a very warm welcome to this family run hotel which is centrally located close to the train station and the wonderful thermal baths. The room was a good size with a nice balcony and the excellent hot and cold buffet breakfast was a real bargain at only 5 euro. Chris gave us very good advice on places to visit and also drove us to the train station when we were leaving. We have travelled extensively in Germany and the Hotel Schmid gave us the warmest welcome of all. We would highly recommend a stay here.

reasonable stopover near Swiss border

Hotel Schmid is a good alternative to the relatively expensive Swiss hotels nearby. It serves a good breakfast, but unfortunately does not have a restaurant. Also we missed wifi. You can be connected to the Internet with a wire device, but not with I-pad, Iphone etc. Swimming pool only open at particular times.

Agréable et bien situé

Ancien hôtel très bien entretenu. Chambre spacieuse avec balcon. Quartier calme. Personnel vraiment très agréable et serviable. Propreté au top. Petit déjeuner correct. Piscine très agréable et sécurisée pour les enfants. Parking sur place. Manque juste le WiFi, même si une connexion internet est disponible sur ancien ordinateur en chambre.
