Nicely in a small gated compound :)

In a neighborhood with "older type" buildings (but mostly well-maintained), it was a nice & quiet stay in my room with a good-sized bed, a flat-screen with also some nice movie channels & an ensuite bathroom.
As for breakfast, all of mine during the stay was at this "small pastry-shop" at just about a 5-minute walk away (to the left after coming out of this place then another left then just along a "winding way") from which it's just about another 10 minutes to the "city center" with a number of "various-cuisine" restaurants (mostly small ones), currency-exchange shops and also some nice souvenir shops around the Old Town area.
And yes, my "many thanks" are to the management gentleman & the lady who were available at the front desk during daytime and who helped me with my needs for getting around (most importantly how to get by bus to the train station for my onward trip to Brasov).

No.

Absolutely to avoid, a real stink. Dirty, shabby rooms.
Our bathroom was indecent.
Booked for 4 nights, after 2 we left.
We will also ask for reimbursement because one night the police arrived.
I wonder how there can be any positive decisions about a place like this.

I wouldn't even recommend it to my worst enemy.
The room was dirty, on the ground, behind the sofa and the bed was endless dust.
Fortunately the double bed where I slept had no stains, but the next single bed was stained with something ambiguous, screwed by the various positive reviews we booked here, but if we had known that the room was in this condition we would have found something much better.
There was never anyone in reception, even to express the various problems that the room presented.
The only positive is that the radiators were on, at least we didn't feel cold overnight.

Gross!

We stayed in this dive because you can't call it anything else, fooled by the nearly 4 stars trip advisor! Dirty that more dirt you can not! The rooms were never cleaned even before our arrival! Dirty sheets, mountain of dust, hair and hair that I could make a wig out of! We never even washed because I don't tell you the bathroom! I've been travelling everywhere for 10 years and I've never had a situation like this! Avoid it!!

Not acceptable

The location was the only thing remotely positive. Already from the outside it looked messy, with furniture and wardrobe doors resting near the entrance. The room was dirty, with dust and halos of glasses on the surfaces, even drops of pee on the toilet seat and stained towels. At our request to have more clean towels the manager gave us still more dirty ones, and was also annoyed when we pointed it out. We then saw that towels and sheets, after being washed, were hung outside in a place full of dirt.
Smells like smoke in the room and hallway, air conditioning unusable because it was as noisy as a tractor and left a smell of old.
All totally unacceptable, we will ask for reimbursement.
