Attention to reservations without cancellation

In July 2024 we booked a room on booking.com for 135€ when we arrived the owner told us that the room had already been booked on another website. He therefore asked us to cancel on booking except that the reservation had been made without possibility of cancellation! On multiple occasions we have asked for a refund of these 135 € not due but to date no return asked this owner. Let us hope that this opinion will finally resolve this dispute.

Low-end

Pros: location near highway exit, quiet, clean room but worn carpet.
Welcome: we were received at 17:30 by the young boy of the owners. No adults present. The Dutch owner does not speak correctly , nor does he understand French.
Cleanliness: the room and toilets are clean but smell of sewers. The rest of the premises is rustic. The room overlooked an unmaintained terrace.
Security: access via a wooden staircase in poor condition. Multi socket that hangs above the stairs (there must be no security commission for these accommodations!). Carpeted everywhere and wood on the walls and ceiling for access to the rooms. 2 fire extinguishers.
Equipment: no TV when it is planned.
Breakfast: a dozen products offered but the quality is not at the rendezvous. Honey mark marker that has honey only the name.. jam special canteen, cheese in strips like those intended for cheese Burger, fortunately 1 croissant. Except for fresh orange juice, no homemade products.
Accustomed to Gîtes de France guest rooms the criteria are not the same and for 125 € the service is not up to standard.

A great spot!

We are road tripping through France with our 5yo... What a find! Lenz is a great host, he speaks several languages, he even brought water out to the car for our onward journey! We called ahead and asked for child's bed in the room which was no problem. His family is adorable and the children played with our daughter in garden. The rooms are gorgeous inside and very cosy. Breakfast was delicious. Thanks for an enjoyable stay.
