The Gem is located in Amiens, a 15-minute walk from Notre-Dame d’Amiens Cathedral. The family-run guest house is set in a traditional-style property and guests can read a book from the library and play billiards.

WONDERFUL HIDDEN GEM
THIS IS TRULY A HIDDEN GEM we walked through the gates and were surprised by a cobbled covered entrance leading to a beautiful courtyard, an amazing house and stunning converted accommodation. Previously an 18th Century Mansion the building is beautifully maintained. We stayed in the annex building and enjoyed lovely en suite bedrooms, our continental breakfast was served in the spacious day room overlooking the courtyard garden.
The location is a 10 minute walk into the wonderful city and we paid for parking in the owners Hotel car park.
The owners Estelle and her husband also own a superb Hotel in the city where we dined on a special occasion for my husbands 70th Birthday, this is called Hotel Spa Marotte. We had an fantastic meal with a wonderful atmosphere, fabulous food and service.
Estelle made our holiday, she was attentive and a mind of information, nothing was too much trouble for her. What an amazing lady! who also spoke perfect English.
We would highly recommend this accommodation and would have no hesitation to return here in the future.

Regrettable!
Comfortable room but no functional wifi (although announced by the owner), practically no network in the room (impossible to make a watsap video call), idem TV which has only foreign channels, only one channel in French but which cut after 10 minutes, and horrible breakfast: small pastries thawed and dry, various products open since we don’t know how long, nescafé expired , idem pod of coffee (cappuccino) expired since 2022 (!) in the room. It would be better not to offer breakfast rather than that .. and the owner who tells you that breakfast at 8am is early for her...
Anyway, the price paid is not worth the service provided, do not go if you want wifi or a good breakfast..

Disappointment with the homepage of the site
Beautiful house close to the city center and the house of Jules Verne, very quiet, clean and spacious rooms.
On the services side, proper welcome without more. Good advice for catering. Impersonal and mediocre Breakfast (sterilised milk and orange juice in their sealed bottle, reheated bread and croissants, commercial jam, coffee jug, no extra, no fruit, no yogurt). On the table already laid, there were missing napkins, glasses. The hostess welcomed us and then left us to fend for ourselves.

Cold welcome and without services
We arrived on time. Having no answer to the bell, we had to phone and wait for someone to come open. To our surprise, we learned that there was no breakfast contrary to what was stated on our Booking Reservation. The person we saw explained that it was the booking fault and that we had not paid the right Award. You would have had to add 35 € for 2 to have breakfast.
Same for the Check-out. The doorbell was still not “working”. We had to call again to find out what to do with the keys. What a surprise to come across the Inn Reception!!
A priori, we were alone in the house and from there, thinking, that the absence of breakfast arranged... there is only one step.!!
In addition, the welcome tray included a whole bag of coffee pudding.
The room was large and clean.
Very expensive for a room, certainly clean, but without SERVICES.

A guest house to advise
en route to Le Havre we stopped in this guest house. A very atypical set of buildings full of charm in an inner courtyard. The room spacious but furnished a little old. 10 minutes from the center. Regarding parking , the street in front of the guest house can very well be used.
