Unforgettable Stay at Solar Dos Limas – Pure Perfection

Probably one of the greatest places I have ever stayed. Solar Dos Limas is a perfect balance of elegance, comfort and authenticity, beautifully operated by the wonderful hosts Jan and Montserrat. The house is calm and peaceful, and I had some of the best sleep of my life here. I especially loved the two showers, which felt like pure luxury after diving when all you dream of is a refreshing rinse.
What makes this place truly special are the details. You can feel that Jan has put his heart into the property, from the thoughtful design touches to the homemade breakfast prepared with love. The location is exceptional, right on the channel with a stunning view of Horta on one side and vineyards on the other. While you’ll need a car, it’s very close to Madalena and perfectly situated to explore Pico.
Jan and Montserrat are also incredible hosts, always ready to provide great tips about the island, the diving, and anything else you might need. Their passion and dedication make the experience unforgettable.
This is a little gem, a rare find, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Five out of five stars.

Bad first impression

We stopped by Solar dos Limas in Pico looking for the restaurant and were surprised by how we were treated. We walked onto the property expecting to ask about dining, as it’s a bed and breakfast, but were immediately told by a staff member (old white man) to leave and that it was “not nice to roam.” The interaction came across as unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming.
What made the experience even more confusing was that, while there is a “Private Property” sign, this is still a business that accommodates paying guests. If someone is looking for the restaurant or considering staying there, a polite explanation or clear directions would have been far more appropriate than being dismissed.
First impressions matter, and unfortunately this one was disappointing. Better signage and a more courteous approach to visitors would make a significant difference.

Exceptional: personalized welcome, host with little care

Close to Madalena on foot, close to a UNESCO classified area. Caring host. Every day, a little gift in the room. Quiet and relaxing place.

Super accueil par Jan le propriétaire, de bons conseils pour les activités aux alentours
Super bon petit déjeuner, avec un « shot » detox different chaque matin, jus d’orange frais, des fruits frais, du fromage des différentes îles des Açores, des œufs préparés devant vous
