We loved it

On our last trips to Portugal this nice place was booked out or closed, this time we have been lucky to get a reservation. And what should I say…we loved it.
The owner was very nice, the apartment very cosy with a perfect view over Baleal. And one of my favorite restaurants around was just in walking distance.

Relaxing spot and friendly landlord

The top floor apartments flows from one side of the house to the other (with 2 bedrooms) so the ocean breezes waft through. The private porch allows for sunset cocktails and continuous Atlantic wave views. The small but well supplied kitchen area is sufficient for breakfasts and lunches. Dinner nearby in the center of Baleal is tasty and has several choices.
The negatives are a tiny circular staircase to reach this apartment means luggage handling can be difficult. There is no AC or Heating as far as I could see but we never needed either as we left the doors and windows open at all times and the temperature in July was perfect for sleeping, relaxing, eating etc.

Breathtaking views away from the hustle and bustle

This little gem is not fancy but offers warm hospitality nestled right at the end of Baleal Island away from the crowds competing in Peniche. Baleal is referred to as an island as it is connected to the Peniche main land by a one way road strip accessible by car. Our room, No 4 had an amazing sea view and so close to the ocean you can feel the ocean mist. The rooms are small but clean with good en-suite shower and toilet. Only downside is a really hard bed. A beautiful breakfast is included in the price and served on an open verandah also facing the ocean. Fresh fruit, bread, cheese, cold meat, preserves and juice. Tea and coffee with biscuits. Lovely hosts that look after you. Highly recommended.

Disappointment!

Unfortunately, the only advantage of this place is the location and outwardly pretty house. Otherwise, almost nothing corresponds to the description of the hotel. Very old small rooms with even older furniture. The bathroom is critically small, the shower should be kept in hand. Pillows are the cheapest and uncomfortable. We visited this place in October. The rooms were very damp and cold at night. Hairdryer need to ask the hostess. We booked 3 nights in this hotel. Due to poor conditions, we wanted to leave 1 day earlier, but the hostess stated that we had to pay all 3 nights, despite the fact that the hotel was full of free rooms. Only after our attempt to leave for 1 day before we were brought a heater, although even on arrival we said that the room was very cold. Do not stay here for more than one night, if you are not a surfer there is nothing to do there. Near full of more modern hotels, this hotel is the most recent on the Baleal Peninsula. The cost of the hotel turned out to be the most expensive for the whole trip around Portugal and at the same time it was very unpleasant to stay in it, although we only spent the night there. It is unfortunate that the owners do not invest in comfort for visitors.

Friendly hotel with friendly service

This is not luxury but it is basic accommodation. There are only 4 rooms in this hotel, breakfast is generous and included in the price. Remember that you will spend most of the day outside so no need for luxuries, rooms are clean but on the small size. Price is also reasonable. They have no credit card facility, cash is king. Mimi, the owner is very accommodating and friendly. Holiday on a budget, ideal for a small family or for a couple who enjoy outdoors, the sea and surfing.
