Super comfy rooms , great setting, lovely pool and Florence was absolutely amazing preparing delicious food . Highly recommended

Wonderful stay at Manico

We had a fantastic stay at Manico Camp. The camp is about a 25min walk to the nearest village, which has a shop with food, water and basics, a market during the day and restaurants which serve excellent seafood.
For a while it felt as if we were the only two tourists on the island. The locals are so friendly and the island is very safe. Zito, the camp manager, and Eric, who worked behind the bar, were so friendly and helpful and made us feel very comfortable. Eric even picked us coconuts from one of the palm trees on the camp. The dinners at the camp are good with generous portions and the self catering facilities have everything you need.

Would not go back again

I wouldn´t recommend anybody coming to this place, the treatment coming from Zitu and the staff working there was really bad. I stayed for one night, and on the first day electricity was cut and so we had no light and no water. The following day nobody came tell us that electricity was resetled, but water wasnt working. We asked and they made it work, then we saw there was no warm water, we asked again and only then they activated it. he whole experience was really tiring and not accordingly to what was promised in the beginning so, since we had already paid on the first day, we asked Zitu for a pay back. He did not only made any apologies or gave us some % of the money back, but he also didnt give me the change money back (os trocos, since i payed 3000 MZN and the value was 2800 MZN). I went back to Maputo and I had to call him for days to give me my money back, he would always find some excuse. Definitely, if you have other options, I would not choose this one and definitely wouldnt contact zitu as a person of confidence.

Mangrove Magic at Manico Camp

Swimming in the warm sea in the channel between the mangrove forests, I found a quiet post-Covid paradise at Manico Camp. I went to Inhaca Island to visit the EBMI – the Marine Biology Research Station – and ended up staying at Manico Camp for two nights. The grass huts are charming and the communal bathrooms are tasteful with good hot showers. I did not mind at all that there was no airconditioning or en-suite bathrooms. The grounds are beautiful with huge shade trees among the huts, and I felt completely safe walking around the grounds and out of the grounds of the camp, alongside the mangroves, and swimming in the sea. The camp is owned by a South African but the manager Zito was a fantastic host, who assisted me with a ferry pickup, and taking me to the EBMI on the Saturday, and to Santa Maria on the Sunday, where we walked and swam on the spectacular beaches and along the corral outcrops, snorkeling among the bright tropical fish. With Zito’s help we bought live crabs from a woman in the village, and the cooks at the camp prepared it for me to eat that evening – a delicious dinner. The staff were charming and went the extra mile to assist me.

Zito, Eric, Florence and Amelia ... a place is made by its people and these amazing staff members really made our trip to Inhaca Island one we will always remember!
We couldn’t have asked for a better welcoming and stay! Thank you!
