Great stay at this independent and welcoming hotel. The room we had (No 4) was large and spacious set inside a nice courtyard. We really liked the pool and breakfast. Dinner was available and food was to a high standard (though bit expensive). Lawn and garden was well maintained, but this does mean there a few bugs that try to get into the rooms. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly - shout out to Hussein! However please note the location is outside Agadir, you have to rely on taxis if you don't have your own car. The nearby town (Tarraste / Inezgane) is just about walkable but really locals only. This does mean you will spend more here on taxis (and dinner at the hotel) compared to other hotels in Agadir itself. We enjoyed our stay overall.

Chef Lahcen Zahir recommendations are TOP!

We had a wonderful time at Riad Dar Maktoub. The service was extremely friendly and welcoming, and we felt at home right away. The pool is beautiful and perfect for relaxing on warm days. A real highlight was the food: Chef Lahcen Zahir’s recommendations – especially the Saint-Pierre and sea bream – were absolutely delicious. The light summer appetizers were also a perfect match. Overall, a truly delightful experience that we can warmly recommend!

This is a lovely property with spacious rooms but feels remote, accessible only by car.
The hospitality is rigid with breakfast starting at 8:00am (not earlier) and dinner is only served between 7:30-9:30pm with 24 hour notice required for many menu items. This should be communicated upon booking as we were expecting a meal before we left for our morning flight and would have booked elsewhere for the price.

I would not recommend Dar Maktoub, it is located next to a busy highway and is a very small property. All night you can hear traffic.
Our room was unclean with blood on the sheets and ants in the toilet.
