Opera Hotel - modern and traditional at the same time

A fairly budget friendly hotel that feels quite luxurious ( we were staying in a junior suite which had a round room with freestanding bath - just gorgeous). A lovely mixture of modern with traditional features. Lush pillows and super comfy bed.Reception staff were all friendly and professional- no problem to keep our luggage. Axel the bar man was very friendly, knowledgeable and gave us a nice insight into Riga life for a young adult - great at his job even when it got a bit busy. Location is great for getting around city - big shopping mall across the road with quick food options. Didn’t eat in the hotel, so can’t comment on that. 20 Euro taxi transfer to airport through Booking.com was worth it. Loved Riga - we went on Riga 825 festival weekend so it was very busy - felt very safe and so much beautiful buildings and sites. A fantastic weekend city break.

Good place

Very well located, next to the train station and very close to the historic center. Decent room with a television, small fridge, and a fan because the central air conditioning was not working (Which is not a big problem for the country's temperatures). There is a kettle with various teas and an espresso machine, as well as a safe, and they provide 2 complimentary bottles of water per day. The breakfast buffet is very decent and very complete with different varieties of both sweet and savory items.

A great hotel - with added rope ladder!

This was an easy 10 minute walk from Riga bus station. It’s opposite the train station on the banks of a canal with park land and so in a really nice location. About 10 minutes walk to the Old Town.
Really comfy bed with quality linen and pillows. I looked out onto an inner courtyard and it was quiet. There was a TV, safe and a small bar fridge.
Bizarrely, there was a rope ladder in a box under the desk! I’m guessing it’s used in the event of fire but no explanation.
Two small negatives: they only came to make up/clean my room at 14.45 hrs which I thought was very late. Also, although I’d locked some valuables in the safe, when I opened the cupboard where it was in, the safe was open. Nothing was taken but it was just odd/weird.

The airconditioning is nonexistent. The excuse was ”it has been like that for ages” at the frontdesk. Brown sewage water poured out of the shower head and faucet during showering. A stark sense of mold was in the air and in some of the furnitures. The breakfast was canned food to 50%. I do not recommend this hotel.

Near the train and bus station

Nice hotel with a comfortable, quiet, and clean suite. It is a shame we could not use the tub due to the lack of hot water… the staff was rather grumpy in the face of our complaints.
