A True Slice of Paradise

We had the absolute privilege of staying at Bellevalia Hydra, and it exceeded every expectation. The location is simply breathtaking, the rooms are beautifully designed, the views are spectacular, and the food is exceptional.
What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and every member of staff went above and beyond to make our stay genuinely unforgettable.
It’s almost impossible to single people out because every single person was outstanding, but a special thank you must go to Anna, who went out of her way to make our stay extra special. Stephanous and his wonderful restaurant team, Sergio and Christos, delivered such incredible food and warm hospitality that we didn’t want to dine anywhere else on the island.
Thank you also to Renata at reception, Anthony and Paulos at the bar, Alessio, who found us the perfect spot on the beach every day, and Jacob, our friendly water taxi guide, whose warm welcome always put a smile on our faces.
Bellevalia Hydra is so much more than a beautiful hotel, it’s a place where genuine hospitality makes you feel completely at home. We leave with wonderful memories and can’t wait to return.

Beach, great food, and a nap

The comment is for the Thassies Taverna restaurant.
Delicious, traditional Greek dishes and very fresh fish to choose from before it is cooked. The staff is experienced, professional, and very kind, never intrusive. Next to the most beautiful equipped beach in Hydra.

Stunning location, average service and amenities.

The location and property is beautiful but it is let down by the experience. It has the potential to be a stunning; exclusive property but it doesn’t feel very authentic and lacks the traditional warmth and hospitality of the Greek people. The food offering is also very average. Overall a disappointing experience if you are looking for a stylish, high quality experience. Such a shame as it has so much potential.

Disappointing Stay at an Overpriced Property

The hotel pick-up from the port was easy and comfortable, and the boat staff were friendly. The beach restaurant was nice, both for breakfast and dinner.
However, the hotel itself did not live up to our expectations. Given the very high price point we expected to be staying at a comfortable boutique hotel by the water.
Instead the room was below average, to say the least, and very uncomfortable for all of us. It was old, we found ants and tiny spiders on the sheets, mosquitoes were buzzing around. The kitchenette was rusty and the bunk beds unsuitable for sleeping.
It is the high price point that made the experience disappointing and difficult to justify. The reception service was curt.
We were relieved to move on to the next leg of our journey.

A “must” on Hydra

The Bellevalia experience started brilliantly before we even arrived. A late flight meant that we missed the last ferry to Hydra. We called the hotel and Grigoris, the owner/manager swung into action, organising a driver to collect us from the port and then a late night water taxi and then personally met us at the jetty. We arrived after 10 pm, but he kept the hotel restaurant open for us.
The rest of the stay we saw how fantastic the entire staff was - Anna being a standout! The bar and restaurant team being excellent.
The room was very tastefully decorated, the food was delicious, and the bar was great.
The hotel is 10 minutes by water taxi from the main city, so was not over-run by tourists, although it does cater for day visitors.
We will certainly return and have put Bellevalia into our list of world-class hotels.
