Super

Excellent camp. Comfortable and cozy tents. Good restaurant. From our terrace, we could watch a giraffe eating leaves across the stream. In the evening, you are accompanied by a Maasai with a flashlight. We really enjoyed everything.

Good service and good food

We were received incredibly well, and were very happy with the "tent" we got. The cleanliness was very good, and the service in general was very good. We appreciated being escorted to and from the restaurant by the masai when it was dark. This was an extra plus
The camp is very well located by a river, here we were so lucky to see a river horse and elephants right on the other side!
The breakfast, lunch and dinner were also very good and varied.
We definitely recommend Basecamp Masai Mara

Wonderful Experience

Wow, what a wonderful start to our safari experience. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff at all times - they were always happy and attentive to make our stay a wonderful experience. Food was delicious and we always felt very safe (thanks to our Maasai sentry - Edward). Our guide, John, was amazing with his knowledge of the animals and the ecosystem and we were lucky enough to see Lions, Cheetah, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, Hippos, Giraffe, Zebra (Hyena devouring a Zebra), Wildebeest crossing and many other animals. A perfect start to our journey through Kenya and Tanzania. The Hot Air balloon ride was simply breath taking also! Absolutely loved it.

John's knowledge clearly brought this ecosystem to life for you, and it's wonderful that Edward's watchful care let you settle in and simply enjoy it all, including that breathtaking balloon ride. Fantastic place. Highly recommend.

Fantastic stay here. Great location in the Mara. Lovely and spacious accommodation. Great food. All the team worked so hard to look after us and ensure we had the best time. John was a really great guide. Really fun and worked to hard to ensure that we saw as much varied wildlife as possible. We also visited the local Masai village which was really interesting.

A slice of Heaven by the Talak

We had the most amazing three nights at Basecamp Masai Mara. The location is just beautiful, by the Talak river. We stayed in the family tent- with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was spacious, clean and very comfortable.
The staff were absolutely fantastic - Agnes the Bunglow manager made sure all our needs were met. Lennie looked after us so well throughout our stay. Enok the chef catered to all our needs and the food was delicious! We had two vegan/vegetarians in our group and two carnivores and we all had the best food as there was always a veg and non veg option.
We had the most unbelievable game drives- seeing everything except the rhino in just 3 days! The highlights were Lion mating with the backdrop of the sunrise and Cape Buffalo vs Lion stand off! Bandi our guide made sure we saw the maximum in the three days we had.
The Masai village was also a great experience.
The museum is a must visit- I suggest doing this at the beginning. It’s so impressive to see how much is being done to help the community and we’re so grateful to be a part of it.
This was truly one of our BEST holidays and we can’t wait to be back one day soon!

A lion mating pair at sunrise and a Cape Buffalo standing its ground against a lion with only the rhino left for next time. We're so glad the family tent by the Talek gave you all the space and comfort you needed, and that Enok's kitchen found the balance for both your vegetarians and non vegans alike.
Thank you for such a generous review of Agnes, Lennie, Enok and Bandi, and for taking the time to visit the museum too, it means a great deal that you felt part of the community's story. We can't wait to welcome you back to Basecamp Masai Mara soon.
