We have stayed here probably 5 or 6 times. Always clean and comfortable. Will stay again for sure. The diner just down the street has very good food.

Location!

The Winsome is located just off route 1 a few kilometers inside the Canadian border..Its a perfect stop for people who are looking for a place to rest their head before continuing on thier way.
It's an older motel, built in the classic style. Our room was clean and had everything you would need for a night or two. " the bathroom is cute " said my wife.
What i found interesting is that the area surrounding the hotel seems to have been built up around it..making it almost a time capsule to days gone by.
Would i stay here again absolutely

Extremely noisy, source undetermined

Loud noise similar to a garage door opening with a loud bang when it stopped. This continued throughout the night. Its 2 a.m. and Its my second night of zero sleep. There is no garage here so I have no idea whats causing it. Office is closed so no one will answer the phone. I can clearly hear the people snoring in the next room, walls are not soundproof at all.
Turned air conditioner on to hopefully drown out the banging noise but the controls on the unit do not work.
Bed is very uncomfortable, basically mattress seemed lumpy and soft.
Room was not attended to during my stay. No fresh towels, bed not made up.
Unfortunately there St Stephen is very limited on accomodations.

We’ve been here a couple of times over the past decade. While it is always clean, we’re not seeing a lot of changes or upgrades along the way.
The room (35) was dark due to the heavy, dark, old fashioned bedspreads, and matching drapes. The older style lamp next to the bed has a three- way but has just a single level LED bulb, just barely adequate for reading.
The bathroom has multiple defects in the paint. The toilet is VERY low and difficult to access.
The dated TV worked in the evening but I couldn’t get the remote to function the next morning.
All in all, the room rate ($190 CDN) seems high in proportion to what you get.

Rooms were musty, bathroom dirty, toilet didn't function properly and also wasn't secured tightly to the floor. No cable, couldn't access streaming features. Lamps flickered so bad couldn't use them. Plug in outlets hanging from the wall. Housekeeping loud and unprofessional. Owner invaded my privacy( attempted to get in my room) just because there wasn't a car parked in front of my room.
