The volume of the food is amazing.
Access is a bit tough. Some inns have direct buses from the city center, but it is hard to drive. On public transportation, it takes a long time to get to the full transit. Because it is on a mountain, it is about 1800 meters above sea level, and the amount of oxygen in your blood is reduced, so you get an alert from the Apple Watch.
The water is cloudy, and it is a wonderful hot spring.
The main building room is an ordinary Japanese-style room, with a toilet on the right of the Tataki and a sink on the left as soon as you enter, so it was a shame to wake up early in the morning because going to the toilet was a bit of a hassle and the windows were only on the sliding doors.
Meals are large in volume both morning and evening, and tempura is served freshly fried. The menu was not particularly gorgeous, but they were all delicious.
If you stay for a long time, you can also make a reservation in advance for lunch.
The serving and cleaning staff are foreign people, but everyone was pleasant.

Recommendation for those who are particular about hot springs
The mountain path from Kusatsu takes 30 to 40 minutes to reach Manza Onsen at an altitude of 1800 meters.
The smell of sulfur is very strong. The temperature is lower than that of Kusatsu Onsen and there is no air conditioning, but if you keep the windows open, it is cold at night.
There is nothing around except hot springs, but it is not particularly inconvenient during your stay.
After checking in, I went to the open-air bath, and the elder brother of the yumori poured hot water to keep the temperature up. The source is said to be 80 degrees Celsius, but when I went in, the temperature was just right, and I wanted to stay in.
The wooden roof of the inner bath is very high, and just looking at the atmosphere is fun.
The shower is push type, but there was one that turned off in about 5 seconds. The other showers were fine.
The private bath was just right temperature.
Popsicles, coffee, tea and herbal tea are served in the lounge after the bath.
There was also a reading space, and there was a manga, so I could relax.
We made it a sukiyaki course for Joshu beef, but in addition to sukiyaki, there were a lot of tempura and ceramic plates. It was a bit difficult to eat. It was written in the reviews that there would be a lot of them, so we bought a piece of bread in Kusatsu for dinner during the day, but my wife hardly wanted to eat breakfast the next day. (All the flavors were very good...)

If you can see outside from your room
I took a plan for a 7.5 tatami room that included two bento meals.
Outside the window was the slope of the mountain, and because it had a eaves, I couldn't see the sky.
When I asked the front desk, they said that the other rooms were similar.
The bento was pretty tasty.
Especially the beef.
However, even though I had told them in advance that I had a shellfish allergy, there was shrimp in it twice.
I wonder if that didn't get through to the kitchen?
The bath smelled of sulfur and felt like a real "hot spring."
There was a massage parlor opposite the bath, and a quick 20-minute session cost 2,000 yen.
The massage was so good that I extended my time.

A nice ryokan-style hotel
The hotel is very well maintained and service level is impeccable. Hotel staff speak very limited English so communication might be a challenge. Not surprise to find that hotel guests are mostly Japanese people.
Our room was traditional Japanese style (ryokan). It was a smoking room but when we told the hotel we don't smoke, they deodorised the room prior to our arrival. Free wifi is only available in the reception area. We had the Japanese kaiseki dinner and it was quite a spread. Onsen was also good - there is an indoor and outdoor bath. Not sure about other rooms but mine did not have a shower so we had to wash up at the communal baths in the onsen area - not a problem for us as we enjoy onsens.
Hotel also provides ski rentals and free shuttle services to the ski resort and bus terminal. A good stay!
