Very practical and comfortable.

Well located (next to the train station), with nearby shops, this guest house is comfortable with fairly large rooms, a bathroom with shower or bathtub, a large common room, and a washing machine with dryer. Friendly welcome and reasonable prices.

The hotel description did not capture the situation enough. I was confused due to lack of room pictures. They also posted several listing for different rooms under different hotel name section. But this room is perfect for us. The location is a bit far (if you are not used to walking) from the station but it is only around 7-9 minutes walking. The surrounding area is a quiet neighborhood. The building is new and very clean. It was also warm inside even when the weather forecast said -14 celcius outside. The japanese food they served was also very good. They provided free coffee/tea and water in common area. They also let us lent their microwave. The bathroom is only one but very clean and comfy. The room has its own mini fridge, ac, and tv. If you are wondering where to stay in Biei, I definitely recommend this place.

Simple and nice

A simple and clean guesthouse at reasonable price. There is a supermarket, a convenience shop and a drug store nearby as well. The guesthouse owner is a beautiful lady who speaks very good English and able to provide a lot of useful information for our trip too.

Small room. Good when on budget.

Location is only few minutes away from Biei station, which is convenient when you want to go the blue pond in Biei (in front of Biei station is the bus stop going to the pond). The rooms size is just enough for two people which is typical in Japanese hostels. Free drinking water, coffee and tea on the common area. Same as the other reviews, taking a bath is limited and is very inconvenient. Also, you have to pay for the towel, toothbrush for 100yen price, this is I think not mentioned before I booked the hotel. It would be better if they include this on the booking fee.

Unpleasant and Overpriced Stay

Minshuku Cress is in a convenient location, but overall it’s a horrible value. There are only 2 bathrooms for the entire hotel, and I had to wait nearly every time I wanted to use one. For the amount of people staying at this place, only having 2 bathrooms is unacceptable.
There are also only 2 showers. While I was aware that I would not have a private bathroom/shower when making the booking, I did not expect the situation to be so bad.
If you’re considering staying here, here’s some other things you should be aware of:
No towels are provided, there is no mirror in the rooms, you’re only allowed to use the limited showers between 4pm and 10pm and the hotel is very noisy at night. I would not stay here again.
