A paradise for children.
We have already been to the Appelhof several times and always enjoy coming back. For children, it is a true paradise! The huge complex is magnificent and lovingly maintained, the leisure program varied, and the food excellent. A very clear recommendation for families!

Best children's hotel
Simply top! Best children's hotel we have been to so far. A great deal is offered for every age, childcare, climbing program, entertainment program,... Staff very friendly and nice. Have already booked again for next year.

Good concept – rather loveless realization
We stayed here because of personal recommendations and slept in the “green house” for three nights. The rooms are declared 3 stars and absolutely sufficient. I don't want to complain much about anything here. The room was clean. Perhaps a slightly soundproof entrance door would have been desirable, the broken bedside lamp was perhaps not quite optimal in a children's hotel but otherwise really recommended if you want to look at the price. Important: Here you have to dress again and again, as you have to go at least for food in the main house (about 150m). For the room I award a good 4 stars.
The supporting programme was varied every day. Unfortunately, the motivation of the employees was somewhat limited. It may also have been due to the linguistic barrier. Friendly and helpful they were definitely. Here, however, you have to be careful. We were here for 4 days and unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to climb the climbing wall. I find this rather annoying, especially when there is too little snow and you want to fill your daily schedule. The water in the swimming pool had not felt 30°C. After 5 minutes, the children already had blue lips. Hence here a 1 star trigger. It was bitterly cold, there was even a snow cannon standing around the terrain, but it was apparently not necessary to activate it to enable the children to ski. The skating rink was also closed and everything only opened after our departure on 2 January. That is my biggest criticism of the framework programme. And it cannot be due to the idea of nature, as the fireworks and balloons, which I will come to in a moment, were anything but nature friendly.
Now to my unfortunately biggest criticism during our stay and also reason why I can only award 2 stars. New Year's Eve was a “handle to the bathroom”.
We came to dinner at 7:00. The buffet played all the pieces. From mussels to fish to seafood to roast beef, every wish of an adult was probably fulfilled. Well, it's just a children's hotel and my two girls with 5 years don't eat seafood and co. Schnitzel was out – and that was the only one for children. No pasta, no rice... empty cakes, maybe. Here “Enikö” from the restaurant saved our evening, because she was able to organize us a schnitzel from the kitchen. Another guest gave up his for our children. So what the chef was thinking at the buffet, I can't understand. The evening went on...
The castle was then the New Year's Eve party. To increase sales, the juice plants for children were covered. For my Clever apple juice (0,3l) I was allowed to put down a proud 3,90€ for my daughter. Sparkling wine and mulled wine were free again. So really, what are you doing? Hanging out on all-inclusive services and charging money for them and serving free alcohol is a joke! And as for the environmental idea: Shortly before midnight, they let “wish balloons” rise. That must have been a good 300. The thought is very sweet. But what kind of garbage has flown into the environment, what will in turn hang around in nature and maybe eaten by animals. A cheek! The midnight fireworks must have cost an avalanche. It took longer than the Danube Waltz. What dirt got into the environmental bullets and what noise that was. This is absolutely incomprehensible in 2025 and 2026, respectively, and also out of date. And nobody cleaned up the dirt. At least not until 2 January, because the garbage of the rockets was still well scattered on the toboggan hill of the children. My wish: no balloons. If, then a smaller fireworks display, continue to free drinks from the Grapos plant and pay for alcoholic drinks.
However, I would like to end my recession with a huge plus. In terms of taste and choice of food, it was just delicious. The staff in the dining room was also only positive to mention – especially Mrs. Enikö, whom our New Year's Eve saved.
Finally, for me: The concept is good. The hotel is old and it needs some renovation. Until that happens, it was probably my first and only stay at the Appelhof.

So great for grandmas, grandpas and grandchildren
We are with the grandchildren every year at the Appelhof because they do not want anything else and love the Appelhof - rightly so! He's a paradise for children! Even in winter - always something going on. We had another family room at Milan House which was spacious, cozy and clean. This year we were there for the first time over New Year's Eve - really impressive what the Appelhof team is doing. I have never seen such a beautifully and lovingly designed buffet - everything your heart desires was there. Then there were campfires, children's disco, wish balloons, punch and children's punch, a professional fireworks.... Thanks again to the whole team for that! But even the "ordinary" days were filled with indoor pool, indoor playground, feeding animals, football games, indoor climbing, curling, meeting friends ...

Wonderful hotel for children in an amazing landscape, several activities, delicious food, excellent rooms, nice staff
Most wonderful experience a family with kids can experience. Its a hotel where children will be able to do great activities with the monitors and parents are also able to participate. The entire premises are like Disneyland for those who love outdoor activities and there is plenty of support for parents with children from all ages especially those that have newly born. The restaurant is another wonderful place to enjoy a great meal with your loved ones. The food is tasty and made to match the desires of all generations that spend their vacation in Appelhof. I highly recommend for all the parents that want to provide an unforgettable vacation and Im sure many will leave the hotel making next year’s holiday reservations.
