Magic Carten ❤️

I come to Naples often during the year , this is the third time I stay at the carten and I swear I have never found a place so magical and practically in the center ... amazing owner and staff! For me now it's home ...❤️

Not as advertised! Book elsewhere.

Not as advertised!!! We were really excited to start our trip in Naples and thought this hotel would be a great start but we were completely disappointed. When we arrived the hotel reception was closed so we were advised to go to the cafe next door where the waiter there gave us the key. This was absolutely fine, but then he asks us to follow him... we walk straight past the hotel we had booked, across a extremely busy road, then down some side streets to a residential building. We were taken up to the 1st floor in a dodgy lift to a room which had the Carten branding outside. I guess they use these as overflow rooms in the high season when the hotel is fully booked. The room was not at all like the photographs they advertise. So much so that we felt extremely uncomfortable staying there, so after 10mins we left.
The room had mould, curtains hanging off, boiler visible in the room, cleaning is lacking attention to detail. Can't comment on cleanliness of towels, sheets, working of things in the room as we didn't stay long.
We wish we had looked at the Google reviews before booking here, I think it's based on luck whether you get an appropriate room or not here. In the end we booked the Mercure hotel which is right opposite the Carten and that was a much, much better experience.

Dark and noisy disappointment

Room does not match pictures at web site at all. Very noisy, dark room with heavy chlorid smell.

Room needs attention (water damage on the base boards, shower head leaking, sheets were stained, exposed wires in the bathroom by the shower window). Hotel hard to find from courtyard. Told it was on the 3rd floor but really on 2nd floor and then had to carry luggage up a flight of stairs. This hotel is not good for anyone with physical impairments. Main lobby was cluttered. Wifi was spotty. Had to catch an early flight and did not sleep due to noise of traffic, honking, people yelling, and other guests entering their rooms. Was not there long enough to have breakfast, but the seating area was cluttered with boxes. The positives: Room had a nice view of the castle. Recommendations: This hotel should have better signage in the courtyard or provide instructions of how to get up to the lobby. It should also let people know not easy access for those with disability.

True disappointment, don't go

The room was damp, smelled damp, hot tub not usable due to the presence of insects and tub closure cap replaced by an arrangement made of silicone, smells of sewer, walls with mold, unsafe ceiling with split wooden beams right above the bed and scarcity of services, room located behind the structure in a building of the 50s without elevator and especially bleak, not inside the hotel / b & b. The stench of sewer was terrible that they try to cover with perfumers, drainage of bare pipes without a cap from which an absurd stench comes out. Really not recommended
