The estate for your team outings

This is my second time visting Chikmaglur, but this time became infinitely better because our team chose this villa estate. We are large team of 18, and booked 9 rooms. Viren and Dana, the hosts are super responsive and sweet, the estate is huge with coffee plantations, two blocks of Villas, a stream that flows through the estate, natural features like gorges and waterfalls. The very first we trek up the mountain, exploring the coffee estate, guided by Viren himself. The estate kept us occupied thoroughly through the trip, so much so that we didnt even venture beyond. Every evening the staff arranged bonfires. The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful. One can imagine the issues that can come up with a team of that size. But they handled everything with a smile. The food was really good, a mix of popular dishes and local varieties. I guess my only complaint is that we didnt get enough of it… and wanted to spend more time.

Unprofessional Management, Families Stay Away!

We travel a lot, be it to homestays, resorts or even any jungle accommodations. Hence we understand the challenges involved in purchasing raw materials for food and other requirements. But the conduct of the manager Mr. Sumanth just blew up everything. Booking in-charge, Ms.Teju sounded quite professional but when the issues cropped-up the passing-the-buck game started. After initially giving us a "Stay & Complimentary Breakfast" package, the next day they told they are going with just the stay part and hence reducing the tariff [by INR 1500], which I thought was fair enough. The experiences I faced later in the homestay made me understand their trick!
Atrociously Expensive Food
Since I was'nt happy with the Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner cost per head and the fact that we were only looking for simple food on the lines of few roti-sabzi and rice, curd, I requested for the menu card/list to understand the prices. The Manager cleverly avoided giving it and agreed to my request of food being charged on item basis. The lunch bill on our arrival gave me a heart attack:
For example,
1 bowl of curd [around 5-6 tablespoons in volume] was charged INR 95
1 thin single egg plain omlette was charged INR 120!

Unempathetic and Unprofessional Behavior
Distance b/w our cottage and the main area was approx. 150 mts. At night it becomes pitch dark. On the first day of stay, we slept without power from around 11.30pm until 6am. Mobile signal, including their wifi was hopeless. Leaving 3 year olds in the room and walking out in the dark forest was not an option. After multiple tries, around 4.15 I managed to get connected with Mr. Sumanth via phone but within a minute lost connection. Any professional manager would have sensed that there is some issue and would have at least come to enquire but this gentleman never came! Neither did he call!
Irresponsible Biased Attitude
I thought if network is an issue, they should at least have either an intercom or an emergency calling bell for contact. Alas.. it was actually available in our cottage(on the outside) and it was pointed out by one Mr.Maruthi. In fact the commitment shown by Mr. Mani and Mr. Maruthi (reporting to the Manager) was genuine and 10 times better than that of the Manager! On the first day I actually thought may be they are bit inexperienced [this, despite the manager telling me "This is a homestay and you cant expect whatever you want" as a response for me asking for a simple roti/rice meal instead of the standard meal package]. But the very next day when new folks arrived [around 12-15 of them], I could see the Manager himself running around and also instructing his subordinates actively!! What a fool I was!
Wardrobe Shelf/Cupboard
While we didn't have any issues about the size, the shelf had 3 racks which meant there was no way to place hangers. the racks as well as the top of the shelf were full of dust which meant that we could not use it at all. Hence the shelf was basically redundant. For that size of the shelf, it would have helped if there was just 1 partition/rack so that we can at least put few hangers.
Only for SUVs
The booking confirmation voucher as well as the booking in-charge would tell you that the last 4 km of the journey is mud road and hence vehicles with low ground clearance would find it difficult. But in reality, the complete stretch from Sampikegatte until the resort is completely mud road. Even SUVs would need to mind their breaks and speed. Hence those coming vehicles with low ground clearance, its a complete risk.
HatsOff to Mr.Sampath for making even the patient and simple ppl like us to boil! The 2 stars are for the genuinely hardworking staff Mr.Mani and Mr.Maruthi!

Nature Nirvana - Nature at its BEST!

We went on June, perfect weather to visit Chikkmangluru.Neither So sunny nor rainy. Our stay at Nature Nirvana was absolutely fantastic! This homestay has so much to offer - clean, comfortable rooms, delicious food, for people who like to explore the outdoors , there are lovely waterfalls which you can jump into, treks with beautiful views, estate walks, boating , a pool to relax in and last but not the least warm, friendly hosts.
Care taker Lokesh is very good friendly and Sabir jeep Driver is also very good.
Overall we enjoyed lot. Love to visit again

Nature Nirvana - Nature at its BEST!

Our stay at Nature Nirvana was absolutely fantastic! This homestay has so much to offer - clean, comfortable rooms, delicious food, for people who like to explore the outdoors , there are lovely waterfalls which you can jump into, treks with beautiful views, estate walks, boating , a pool to relax in and last but not the least warm, friendly hosts.
The homestay is pet friendly too. Beautiful memories were created, I highly recommend visiting this homestay !

Must visit getaway!

I had the time of my life with my girl friends in a fabulous setting, in the midst of lush greenery. This place has a lot to offer for the lazy as well as the active kinds! Waterfalls, lake, trekking, pool were delightful. There was a great spread on the table at each meal. Perfect holiday destination for families too; children woudl be busy here away from their gadgets!
