Worth every step
When we arrived, the area had just recovered from a typhoon, so there was no signal and electricity. No worries though—the inn has its own generator, and honestly, being offline only made the experience better. Instant reset mode.
The inn is perched on top of a mountain, and the view? Absolutely jaw-dropping. We were welcomed by stunning rice terraces and a sunset that felt like a reward for making it all the way there. Morning and evening were even better, with nothing but stillness and soothing nature sounds—birds, wind, and pure calm.
The rooms have wooden walls and floors, so you do need to move around gently (a good reminder to slow down, honestly). It didn’t bother us at all. There’s also a hot and cold shower, which felt amazing after a long day.
We slept with the windows open and had the best sleep—cool air, total silence, and zero city noise. Service throughout our stay was very commendable, warm, and attentive.
The food was great, and the drinks were even better. Our favorites were the rice coffee and hot chocolate—perfect for chilly mornings and quiet evenings. They also had games available, which was a fun bonus during downtime.
Overall, Batad Countryside Inn is peaceful, charming, and exactly what you’d want if you’re looking to unplug and reconnect with nature. Come for the views, stay for the silence, and leave feeling completely recharged.

A nest above the clouds
Usually inconvenient access, difficult access at present (road works) without warning before renting.
Pleasant and helpful staff, Spartan comfort, perilous treks, perfect for chamois (from refuge to village, 667 steep steps), daily commute of inhabitants and schoolchildren ...
Kitchen ... Philippine, delicious pancakes.
