A Five-Star Price for a Two-Star Experience.

We stayed recently and, despite the hotel’s five-star positioning, the experience fell well short at every stage.
Communication was poor from the start. I emailed ahead with several questions and never received a reply, then called about an hour before arrival with a parking question — again, little help. As a native English speaker living in Italy, I’d expect no language barrier at this category of hotel, yet this was one of many friction points.
On arrival, staff met us at the garage entrance with no offer to help with luggage — not even down to reception, despite clearly seeing we were carrying bags. Check-in itself was minimal: keys handed over, a mention of two restaurant options, nothing more.
Both our rooms (409 and 418) had bathroom maintenance issues, room 409 particularly so. Raising this at checkout was met with a dismissive “write us an email” and nothing further.
We were later told we’d been given an “upgrade,” but the rooms simply faced the park rather than the river — nothing was ever communicated to us as an upgrade during the stay, so this claim only added to the impression of poor service recovery.
Breakfast, ostensibly a highlight, was disappointing: warm/sweaty cheeses, low-quality bread, a supermarket-style cake, buffet-only eggs, and weak coffee. Ironically, the only proactive communication we received all stay was staff rushing to tell us we’d sat at the wrong (premium “The Level”) buffet.
Overall, this stay didn’t come close to five-star standards in service, communication, or product quality. We left feeling genuinely let down.

No A/C in June!

Multiple nights without A/C. We had a suite on The Level ($$$) but no working A/C in the main bedroom. Despite our complaints, they never did fix it or move us. It took weeks to get any sort of refund and the hotel management was extremely unkind. Overall a very unpleasant experience. Stay elsewhere if you can.

In the whole our stay was comfortable and the hotel very central. Our daughter and her husband travelled with us and their small dog. The cost for the dog was extremely expensive €55 per day. I’ve never experienced this cost anywhere. Our room
Albeit comfortable the cleaning was very poor. Carpet unhoobered. Washbasins and bathroom not cleaned daily. Not worth the cost for sure.

Disappointment, not a 5-star hotel

2 nights at the Melia. Perfect location but average welcome and in the hotel two distinct zones, one for executive classes and the others... so a reserved terrace that was inaccessible and two breakfast areas of the same size, one area where we were parked where you wait in line at the buffet and especially at the coffee machine, and another very quiet zone where only a few people were. I have never seen this and certainly not up to the standard of a 5-star hotel. I do not recommend it.

Nous regrettons que l'accueil n'ait pas été à la hauteur de vos attentes et que la distinction des espaces au sein de l'hôtel ait pu générer un sentiment d'exclusion. Votre remarque sur la répartition des zones au petit-déjeuner, notamment l'affluence dans l'espace principal et la difficulté d'accès à l'autre terrasse, a retenu toute notre attention. Room was cleaned half of he time only
I was offered a la carte breakfast only half of the time as well
But as Level guest I paid full price not half !
