Lovely staff help this property convert from dated to quirky.

I organized a group on a whisky tour this July (2026) and one of our stops was Wick. We stayed at the Queens Hotel and were charmed by the hospitality and kindness of the staff. Donna checked us in after a late arrival. One tip for you if you stay here, there are two WIFIs, one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs. Be sure to get both passwords. Once we got that sorted, we had no problems with it the rest o f the time.
The rooms are various sizes and the bathrooms are small, with a shower stall that had to be opened if I wanted to bend over at all while in there! But this was the best water pressure I had in all of Scotland! Oh the irony! There are also no rooms with a King sized bed, so that was a bit of an adjustment for us as well. Our driver said he had never seen a bathroom so small, but on the other hand, one set of roommates had a room with three twins, so they were enjoying lots of space. To be honest, our room also had space, and I loved the antique dresser in my room! It is an older hotel and if you go there expecting this, and reflect on the cost, you can see the value of staying here. You do need to climb stairs to get to your room and there is no one there overnight, so make sure you get all the towels and things you need when you check in before everyone goes home.
Heather took care of us in the morning and we had amazing breakfasts everyday with lots of love and kindness from Heather. The breakfast room is cozy and welcoming and they were so kind to wake up early on a Sunday to make us breakfast early before we had to catch our ferry to Orkney! We were very well taken care of! The hotel has a restaurant and bar, and many members enjoyed watching the Word Cup finals and enjoying the whisky selection there.
The location is excellent for walking to Old Pulteney distillery, and walking down to the waterfront where many restaurants are located. From Wick we drove with our bus to John O'Groats and 8 Doors distillery, Stannergill Distillery, and went to Thurso to Wolfburn. We spent a day on Orkney, and many members enjoyed the beautiful walks along the sea not too far from Wick.
This may not suit you, but if you are a traveler who likes good value and kind people, you may be able to live with an older hotel that is not luxurious but full of charm and heart.

Affordable and tasty

Food was lovely and amazing for the price, vibe was a little weird but if you want affordable food that tastes great this is the place

Cosy friendly and charming hotel

Lovely cosy hotel with super friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for exploring Wick on foot. Very quiet at night. Breakfast menu had all one could desire on it. Only reason it's not 5 star is that it needs an update inside but on the other hand it's spotlessly clean and very charming the way it is. Excellent WiFi.

Rude as f***k owner!

Was across for holiday and met friends for tea at the Queen's. 2/4 people had steak for tea with peppercorn sauce. The peppercorn sauce was way too peppery and just about blew your head off. When giving feedback to the owner she was so rude! "Well that's what you asked for" & "you shouldn"t have poured it all over your steak". I have never met such a rude person when dealing with paying customers. Avoid if you don't want to be dissappointed.

Owner was very rude

Tried to give a little feed back about peppercorn sauce being too spicy but owner was very rude.
