Afternoon tea, minus quite a lot of the afternoon tea
Unfortunately, our visit this time was nowhere near the standard we remembered.
We had advised in advance that one guest was gluten-free and another lactose-free. Both missed out on the sausage roll with no alternative offered, while the lactose-free guest also received no scone. Given the scone is quite a significant part of an afternoon tea, we expected some form of alternative, particularly when dietary requirements had been provided beforehand.
The sandwiches were perhaps the biggest disappointment. The bread was hard and stale around the edges and seemed to have been prepared some time earlier. More concerningly, the three of us who ate the salmon/tuna filling all experienced stomach upset afterwards.
Service was a mixed experience. When we arrived at our allocated outside table, other guests were already sitting there. The two young waiters politely asked them to move, but the situation became uncomfortable enough that we asked to move inside. We also ordered water which never arrived.
I do want to be fair to the staff. The two young waiters seemed overwhelmed but were clearly trying their best, and the gentleman on reception was absolutely lovely, friendly and welcoming.
We understood there were two memorials taking place that afternoon, so the hotel was clearly busy. Sadly, for the price charged, the food and overall experience still fell well below what we expected.
I raised our concerns directly through the feedback form after our visit, rather than immediately posting a public review, but a week later we have received no acknowledgement or response.
Such a shame, particularly because our previous afternoon tea here had been so good. This visit left us feeling disappointed and, unfortunately, reluctant to return.

I was extremely disappointed to read your comments, particularly as you have previously enjoyed afternoon tea with us and chose to return. It is clear that on this occasion we fell well short of both your expectations and the standards that we set ourselves, and for that I sincerely apologise.
I am especially sorry to learn that we did not adequately cater for the dietary requirements that had been communicated to us in advance. Our intention is always to ensure that all guests enjoy the full afternoon tea experience, regardless of dietary needs, and I completely understand your disappointment that suitable alternatives were not provided.
Your comments regarding the quality and freshness of the sandwiches are equally concerning. We take food quality and guest wellbeing extremely seriously, and I am particularly troubled to learn that members of your party felt unwell afterwards. Please be assured that I will be investigating this matter thoroughly with our kitchen team.
I also apologise for the issues you encountered upon arrival with your allocated table and for the water that was ordered but never delivered. While I appreciate your kind comments regarding our reception colleague and the two young members of the service team, who were indeed doing their best under challenging circumstances, this does not excuse the shortcomings in your overall experience.
I am also disappointed to learn that you submitted feedback directly following your visit and did not receive a response. We value all guest feedback, and failing to acknowledge your concerns in a timely manner is not the level of care or professionalism we aim to provide.
Whilst the Manor was hosting two memorial gatherings that afternoon, this should never detract from the experience of our other guests, and I am sorry that this was not the case during your visit.
Thank you again for bringing these matters to my attention. Your feedback has been shared with both our kitchen and service teams so that we can learn from this experience and make the necessary improvements. It is particularly regrettable when a returning guest leaves feeling disappointed, and I hope we may one day have the opportunity to restore your confidence in Langshott Manor.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent experience at Langshott Manor.
Firstly, I would like to extend my condolences to you and your family on your recent loss, our thoughts are with you at this tough time.
I do apologise that you felt our service was not great, and that we were unable to help. I would be keen to understand the timing and the personnel that you spoke with regarding your booking. Usually, with an airline cancellation, the airline booking agents are the point of contact for guests to request changes etc. At the Hotel, if you have not booked direct, we are unable to make amendments to bookings I am afraid, this does need to go through the relevant booking agent.
Again, I do apologise that you feel our team are not responsive, this is not the usual nature of my team at the Hotel at all. The whole team strive to deliver the best experience and help our guests as much as possible in any situation.
I do hope that we can welcome you back to Langshott Manor in the not too distant future.

Lovely hotel, inexperienced people
After drinking white wine the waiter asked if we were ok to keep the same glasses for our red wine. At £100 a bottle it should be clear we need red wine glasses and not our old white wine glasses. We were then given three different kinds of glass for the red (two white and one red glass). We asked for four red wine glasses only to be told they can’t find any.
The food on the whole was good but when we reported the lamb was tough and inedible we were simply advised the chef would be told.
Some professional training is urgently required.
