It’s rare for me to leave a review, but The Deck truly deserves one. There are hotels that are expensive and beautiful, and then there are places that have soul. For us, The Deck was exactly that.
A special thank you to Alex for his genuine care and attention. Every question or request was handled immediately, making our stay even more enjoyable.
The greatest thing about this hotel is its atmosphere. It’s peaceful, intimate, and never feels crowded or busy.
The hotel is located right in Fisherman’s Village, but at the very end of the street. This turned out to be the perfect location. Within just a couple of minutes, you can walk to all the restaurants, bars, shops, and nightlife, then return to complete peace and quiet. The beach is only a two-minute walk away.
We stayed in Villa No. 6, and it was the perfect choice. The villa has a spacious, cozy terrace where we loved having our morning coffee or simply relaxing in the evening.
The room itself deserves a special mention. Many hotels try to create a stylish interior, but here everything feels natural and authentic. Natural wood, woven baskets, linen fabrics, wooden bedside tables, beautiful lamps, bamboo details, ceramics—so many thoughtful little touches that may seem insignificant on their own, but together they create an incredibly warm and welcoming atmosphere. This is one of those rare hotels where every single corner looks like it belongs on Pinterest or Instagram.
The breakfasts were my favorite! I love European-style breakfasts, so I was absolutely delighted. Instead of a huge, noisy buffet, everything is freshly prepared after you order. The food is always fresh and served just a few minutes later.
The grounds are small but beautifully maintained. The pool is spotless, the sun loungers are comfortable, and the lush greenery makes the whole place feel like a little oasis.
The Deck isn’t about luxury for the sake of luxury. It’s about taste, aesthetics, attention to detail, and an atmosphere that you fall in love with from the very first day. We left feeling like we were saying goodbye to a place where we had truly been happy. This is definitely somewhere we’ll return to. ❤️

A small gem in Fisherman`s Village
A beautiful little gem of a botique hotel a few steps from the walking street of Fisherman`s Village. The fact that it was a few steps away, made it calm and quiet, which was a big plus.
Rooms were beautiful, not big, but big enought for 2, and beautifully decorated in light sand and white colors. A big bed in the middle of the room, very comfortable, a big and great shower, his and hers sink, and a separat toilet room with a door. Amenities and bathrobe was available as well. The first night we stayed in a family pool villa, which had a separate bedroom for the children and an en suite bathroom. Just as beautiful as described above.
The pool area is just beautiul, but hot. Not enogh wind on the hot days, as it is nestled inside big walls, trees and bushes. The pool water was not cool enough, which unfortunately did not cool us down on the hot days. We loved the bean bags in the pool.
Breakfast was good, coffee was good, and please try their mango and avocado salad. It was SO good.
Very calm atmosphere, also at night, which we love. Good drinks at the bar too.
The staff at the restaurant were very very nice and attentive. A big thank you to all of them. Also tho the cleaning personel that came everyday, always smiling and being so warm.
Management (not Thai) is the reason the last star is not given. We were left with a feeling of lack of interest for us as guests, didn`t smile much, and we missed the warm and welcoming personalities we get in Thailand from the thai people. We mostly saw them on their phones or smoking cigarettes. Several times they were sat in the restaurant bar smoking, while we were eating, which we could smell, and that was a big turn off for us.
But, all in all a beautiful little gem, with room for improvement from the management.

Beautiful stay. Will return! Thank you!
The location is incredible, just a few metres from the beach, in the most beautiful little village and it’s at the quiet end with only a short walk to the busier end, so you can enjoy peace and party all in one stay effortlessly.
The decor is divine, so well designed with so much thought given to the tiny details, completely clean and a lot of love going into maintaining it to its high standards My room was like heaven and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The food and cocktails were delicious too.
Moh moh and Mala were so attentive, friendly and welcoming; always smiling and laughing and interested in their customers. They clearly love their jobs. The team feels like a family.
I had 2 friends meet me there and they both said they’ll be staying at Deck Cottages on their next visit.
I am so glad the hotel I originally tried to book was full!

Lack of management.
In the run-up to our stay in Koh Samui we did extensive “research” on where we would stay. The choice was: Mecure Samui Chaweng Tana or The Deck Cottages. Both a good rating and in terms of price Mecure was slightly cheaper. We went for The Deck Cottages, partly because of the reviews that is dominated by 10s. And because we really appreciate a boutique style (small, intimate with personal attention).
Well, we don't quite understand the A's.
A ten implies a stay that is excellent and flawless. And to be honest, I expected that for a stay of €1,939.81 (for 5 nights including breakfast)
Let's start with our reception. I come from the hotel industry myself and with over 30 years of experience in rooms-division I can say that this reception was particularly cool, distant and even laughable. We had a list shoved under our noses with the express request to read and sign it. Well, I'm not exactly a little boy, so 9 out of 10 lines made me feel completely unaddressed. We even laughed it off, the French receptionist (manager) understood that we all took it with a huge grain of salt but she lacked empathy to go along with this and play down the rules. Anyway, we signed it. Wasn't planning on demolishing the place, smoking it, or whatever.
We were taken to our Villa (no. 13). Wonderful, we can't say otherwise! After a short explanation, the lady left. The villa is a bit mix between modern (polished concrete floor) and some authentic things like decoration material. Tasteful. The bed is lovely, the air conditioning very present, shower is lovely and powerful, towels and bathrobes soft.
The next morning, after an excellent night's sleep, we went to breakfast. Let me say that the Thai staff show and feel genuine kindness and interest. The managers present (not of Thai origin) are mainly busy with telephone, smoking and “regular guests strangely all of French origin” especially from outside. Anyway, back to breakfast. It's a la carte, fine you'd think, but all dishes contain egg, excluding the yogurt and pancakes, there's nothing Thai on the menu. We didn't ask for it either, at first but it wasn't mentioned that there was anything else to order outside the card. A plate with a slice of bread, fresh croissants and two tubs of butter is placed on the table. Reminds me more of a French continental breakfast. On the table are three glasses of jam (marmalade). After 3 days of eating yogurt, my partner is allergic to egg, I was tired of it and asked for something else, something Thai (because it is on the lunch menu and we are in Thailand). That was all very tricky and something Thai for breakfast was out of the question. I persisted and in the end the choice was a salad or fresh fruit (strange that there is no fresh fruit for breakfast at all) It became fresh fruit that looked very attractive.
The pool looks beautiful but it would be nice if the employees would also remove the empty glasses and cups around the pool. Furthermore, the pool is made of a type of stone that is porous so that “dirt” accumulates that, if you look more critically, does not look beautiful. That is a shame and detracts from the beautiful product.
Housekeeping comes to do your room daily if you want. It is a pity that they have not changed the bed linen once during our 5 days. The sheets were visibly discolored by the sunscreen something that housekeeping or the supervisor should have noticed. The bath towels are nicely replaced every day and the room is decent.
So short and sweet. We enjoyed our stay but a 10.? No, I'm sure not. Yes I am critical but I believe you can if you have to pay €400 per night. And no, I didn't complain. But if the management would pay a little more attention to the guests instead of their phones and external (mainly) French external then you could avoid many things in advance. Guest awareness is called that, in good Dutch. It is a small-scale product where you can get to know your guest relatively easily, if you wish. The only ones who really pay attention are the Thai employees. The management is particularly bad and totally uninterested in its guests. Very unfortunate and disappointing.
Finally, the check-out. Same lady as the check-in. Gen interest on us or how our stay had been. I asked if I could pay for the laundry and restaurant. Bit painful. I did that last night. I pointed delicately at her screen where it said: “balance 0.00”. We've just gone.
Oh, yeah. They also have a beach club, they don't tell you about it and you probably don't have priority as a guest, we also found out by accident. But just so you know.
For us a one-time stay!
