Sympathetic and attentive service in a great ambience

The hotel offers ample free parking and you are greeted very friendly at the reception. The rooms are businesslike and pleasantly equipped. A large wall-mounted TV, which unfortunately cannot be moved to the side, especially since there is the armchair group with the table and you do not always want to watch TV from bed. The absolute faux pas, however, is the architectural and installation error that the switches and a socket for the bed on the right are located directly at the head end and in the bathroom the sink area and the toilet are far too low. At our notice at the reception we were informed that the mistake was made in several rooms and it is very elaborate to change this. Unfortunately, the container for the cosmetic wipes in the bathroom was soon empty and the screw connection was leaking at the overhead shower. We had told the reception personally and since the caretaker was just in the house, it was promised to do this immediately. Unfortunately we had to get the cosmetic towels ourselves and until our departure no caretaker showed up and repaired the shower. We also communicated this shortcoming on our departure to the reception accordingly, also received an apology, but this had not solved the problem.The breakfast at the hotel was fine. However, if you stay longer in the hotel, you notice that a certain variety of cold meats and cheeses is missing. You shouldn't always offer the same cold cuts. Drinks, jam, cereals and especially bread were good. The rolls are unfortunately, as in many hotels themselves baked and in our opinion not very delicious. Nearby there is a baker who has baked-on rolls, but has a much better quality. Here, the management should consider including this baker for the bread delivery, at least on a trial basis. In particular, if a hotel is programming a four-star rating, the management should consider keeping a corresponding offer for breakfast as well. Comparatively, other hotels offer salmon, fish, prepared salads, sparkling wine and specialties for breakfast that we missed here at the hotel. The cheese and the ham seemed like a discount product to us, as it lacked taste. Here, a regional provider would probably be better able to convey taste experiences. The premises of the bar, restaurant and especially the restaurant courtyard with the glass roof pyramid are very pleasant and invite you to linger. We also used this and ordered a table the next evening and took the food in the light courtyard. The service was again very open-minded and sympathetic. We chose the home-rolled Eifeler pork roast with fries and savoury sauce from the daily menu and the pork tenderloin of the Eifeler pork with roast potatoes and green bacon beans from the menu. The food tasted very good and as a conclusion we treated ourselves to an Aperol spritz, with which we lingered even longer in the beautiful ambience. This is certainly not the last time we have visited this hotel.

Four stars??? Well...

My wife and I spent two nights at the Augustiner-Hotel in Hillesheim at the end of June 2026. The welcome by the staff member at the reception was friendly. The room was comfortable - even though I generally believe that carpeting in a hotel room is not optimal. The sauna and pool area in the basement was very appealing. On the first day, we had dinner on the terrace; we were served by a friendly and courteous staff member; we chose the smoked trout, which tasted very good; the loud kitchen exhaust fan at the end of the terrace was somewhat disturbing. On the second evening, we were refused food on the terrace by another staff member in a harsh tone. We therefore ate in the "Atrium" restaurant, which exudes the charm of a better train station concourse; the (barrier) wooden structure surrounding the restaurant, which is presumably intended to separate it from the reception area and the hallways, is only partially suitable for improving the uncomfortable overall impression; however, we found the completely filthy carpeting to be particularly bad - what is carpeting doing in a dining room??? We liked the breakfast, the ladies from the service staff were attentive and friendly. We had breakfast on the terrace directly adjacent to the breakfast room, which unfortunately lies completely in the shade in the morning due to its northwest orientation. In the design of the hotel, the terrace seems to have been treated a bit like a stepchild, quite in contrast to the extremely generously dimensioned parking lot...

Monastery wellness with great service

We spent a wonderful weekend at this hotel. The staff is attentive, friendly and well trained throughout. The food is great and also the restaurant area not too noisy. The small bar is a good choice afterwards - here cocktails as an option could optimize the stay.The rooms are lovingly designed and all in all in a good state of preservation. The relaxation area in the sauna wing invites you to linger and is wonderful for simply reading a book. As an addition, there is water enriched with lemon slices and variations of nuts and dried fruits as attention- that was really great.
If there is anything to complain about at all, we lacked blackout curtains - so we were awake relatively early. Otherwise, I can only recommend the place.

Nice hotel; outdated accommodation with worn bed. Absolutely not worthy of a 4*!

The hotel itself is a stately building with beautiful atrium. There is also ample parking.
The rooms are old, no blackout curtains, no air conditioning. The bed is just worn, pillows as flat as a fig; the plumes have started to fly. The bathroom was small but good; towels: 1 large and 1 small towel per person and this for 3 days.
If you wanted an extra towel for the wellness you had to pay 8€.
Breakfast, very austere. Traffic jam at the coffee machine.
Pistolets had warmed up from the day before, resulting in a rock-hard crust.
The scrambled eggs were like concrete, no creamy eggs, nothing tasteful in them either. Everyone who took it also left it on the table.
Fruit juice wasn't good. Pure chemistry.
The meat was neatly chilled, as well as the cheese was orderly distributed. The salmon has only been on the breakfast table once. Choice in yogurt limited.
The restaurant was cozy, the food of the half board was small in portion. When we were allowed to choose a la carte on our 2nd evening the portion was good. The staff was friendly and helpful.
But if there is only one lady in front of the bar and restaurant, the dinner literally takes hours... we have been sitting at the table for far too long, literally had to wait hours for our food.

Old monastery transformed into a hotel worth visiting

Hotel located in the city center.
It is a former monastery transformed into a hotel.
The hotel has ample parking, a swimming pool and a wellness area with two saunas.
The hotel is clean and well appointed. The rooms are beautiful, although the floor is carpeted.
Breakfast is very varied and it is also possible to dine on site.
The hotel does not have charging stations
